Dr. Schacter has vast knowledge of his practice areas, especially chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and has published two major works in recent years: Life and Breath, and The Good Doctor's Guide to Common Colds and Flu, along with over 400 articles. doctors are measured by many factors: first, the number of years of experience (Dr. Schacter has forty), second, the ability to listen to patient needs and to answer their questions (Dr. Schachter, also a professor, will go out his way to help make patients understand their condition or disease, and the available treatment options), fourth, the ability to see "big picture", that is, how the pulmonary system functions (or does not function) with other body systems.
