Dr. Elijah Luyten is a Board-certified Primary Care Physician now serving various communities in New York City. He is a caring and attentive physician dedicated to providing uncompromising medical care to his patients. Dr. Luyten earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
He works in conjunction with other Board-certified physicians specializing in fields such as Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Pain Management, and Diagnostic Radiology, among others. At Medical Arts clinics, all providers collaborate to deliver the highest quality care for patients.

Despite waiting for half an hour outside, the actual visit was a less than five-minute conversation with the doctor, where I was the only one talking and trying to communicate the reason I need an allergy test. After telling me that I can have an allergy test, without further explanation/consultation or any kind of input, I was told that the doctor in charge of the allergy test was not there on the day and would only be in office on certain dates, and there’s nothing they can do. It’s a total waste of time and I wasn’t informed about the specific dates where I can actually have the test done. Why accepted the appointment in the first place? The front desk was also unhelpful in explaining the way insurance work, so I ended up have my visit be uncovered by my insurance and had to pay 200 dollars for the 3 minutes talk and 30 min wait.

I was very dissapointed with the care I recieved here. I came in with a lip piercing infection that had spread and become a sickness and a fever and pain in the mouth. Dr. Luyten prescribed me a antibiotic cream, next day I asked for an oral antibiotic, he prescribed me one that isn’t used for infection in the mouth area, when I told him I need one that fights oral bacteria, he prescribed me yet another antibiotic cream (only for use on skin, when my gums are getting huge at this point) 3 prescriptions and none of them what I needed, prolonging my infection and leading to it worsening. I really wish he would’ve listened more, asked more questions, and taken me more seriously. I really don’t feel comfortable coming back here.

I've been with 14th St. Medical Arts for a few years now. They look to service the whole person, though you need to go in knowing what you want. They have a lot of offferings. They have streamlined the entry for the appointment and the folks at the front desk are helpful and follow-up even after you have seen the doctor. It was not always like that but they have made improvements. This was the first time I saw Dr. Luyten. He was warm, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He followed up quickly with my test results and prescriptions. I feel I have have a good fit in him. I recommend him and this group.
