I was referred to Dr. Aoun by a friend who has been seeing him for a long time. He was an amazing doctor and understood me as soon as I walked through the door. He has been really helpful. I highly recommend his for his great personality, intelligence, sense of humor , compassion, non-judgmental approach (and his good looks) . He is by far one of the best psychiatrists in New York. He is thoughtful and an effective communicator.
Great psychiatrist, always on time. He treated my depression and addiction to alcohol. He prescribed medications that were effective and not addictive. He didn't treat me as a disease, but as a person who is suffering, and that was really helpful. Every other psychiatrist I have seen before spends the time doing checklists, not Dr. Aoun. He wants to really hear from me how I am doing, how the treatment is allowing me to better function in my life. I strongly recommend him

Honesty, sensitivity, intelligence and compassion, these are the qualities exhibited by Dr. Aoun. I was absolutely taken aback by how thorough he was; the amount of time he gave me was more than any doctor ever has. He has treated my addiction to prescription opioids using medications and psychotherapy. He is very non-judgmental and treats his patients as persons, more than just a disease. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a psychiatrist
Dr. Aoun is very concerned, professional, knowledgeable and caring doctor. You become comfortable in his presence almost immediately upon meeting him, which to me, is a must! He started me on medications that were very helpful for my anxiety. Dr. Aoun is funny and has a very calm demeanor, plenty of empathy and a warm, and charmingly cute way of communicating with an eye for details. I would recommend him to anyone who has a need for a psychiatrist.
I have had a really great experience working with Dr. Aoun. He was prompt and respectful. I could tell he cared about me, he listened, asked me relevant questions, then before talking about treatment, he summarized what we talked about to make sure he hadn't missed anything, explained what he thought my diagnosis is and why he thought so. The treatment he gave me works beautifully! I am so grateful!
I have been a patient of Dr. Aoun for 6 months now. He is worldly & insightful. He is treating my alcohol problem using medications and talk therapy. He understood the underling reasons why I drink alcohol (depression, trauma, sleep problems) and made sure to address everything. He is so much more than an addiction psychiatrist.

I have had severe depression all my life. I am that very anxious person who gets a panic attack in every stressful situation. I have seen more psychiatrists in my life than I can remember. This is the first time ever that I find a psychiatrist who makes me feel normal, alive, happy. Thank you Dr. Aoun. You allowed me to live my life, to be in a relationship, find love, to feel confident at work. You’re smart, caring, attentive, you go above and beyond for your patients!
Best psychiatrist I have ever worked with. I felt respected and listened to. His recommendations work, he did not try to push more pills, encouraged me to talk, did not try to rush me. After the visit, he was very responsive, he replies to emails quickly. I started feeling better within a month after the first visit, since, I have been sleeping much better and my mood is great. My family have noticed the difference. I have recommended him to all my friends!
