Fernando Carnavali, MD, is Chief, Primary Care Medicine, Mount Sinai Queens. He divides his time among the primary care providers at the new Mount Sinai Queens multi-specialty practice which includes Mount Sinai Doctors, Queens, Mount Sinai Doctors, Jackson Heights, and Mount Sinai Queens Family Health Associates. Dr. Carnavali is working with physicians and staff to improve service and broaden population health management including focusing on: National Committee for Quality Assurance Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home, Mount Sinai Care ACO, Health Home Program, and Healthfirst Quality Improvement Program. In addition, Dr. Carnavali is leading a growing network of primary care physicians at Mount Sinai Queens.
As Chief of Primary Care Medicine, Dr. Carnavali has extensive clinical and administrative experience in primary care medicine and HIV/AIDS Medicine. He is passionate about optimizing the quality of health care delivered to patients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Prior to joining Mount Sinai Queens, Dr. Carnavali was Chief Medical Officer of AHRC Health Care, Inc., a Federally Qualified Health Center affiliated with Mount Sinai Beth Israel. There, he oversaw expansion of the health center, organized and coordinated quality improvement projects, and directed the center’s many services including primary care and specialty services.
Dr. Carnavali is board certified in internal medicine and received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires. He completed both a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Montefiore Medical Center. He has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of HIV/AIDS Medicine topics.
