Dr. Franchell Richard-Hamilton is a caring board certified surgeon who is passionate about taking care of her patients. She has dedicated most of her adult life to helping others. She is an experienced general surgeon who has performed many bread and butter general surgery cases but has a passion for studying and helping those struggling with obesity. Dr. Hamilton is a native of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and has traveled the world for her studies. After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies she went to medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio to receive her medical degree. She did her residency under the direction of Dr. L.D Britt at Eastern Virginia Medical School and received laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship training in San Antonio. She sits on the bariatric committee for SAGES and has multiple presentations and publications researching both general and bariatric diseases. She has currently performed hundreds of bariatric procedures and has made this her primary focus.
Outside of work Dr. Hamilton loves spending time with her family, living a healthy active lifestyle, traveling and doing mission work. Her goal as medical director of The Better Weigh Center is to offer comprehensive healthcare to her patients as well as prolong and improve the quality of their life.
