Dr. Swain is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University where he graduated as member of Phi Beta Kappa. Having obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, he went on to receive his MBA from Yale University School of Management. He then completed a general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
With his clinical focus in general surgery, Dr. Swain is skilled in both laparoscopic and open surgery. Additionally, he is passionate about improving health care systems which would allow greater access to high quality surgical care to diverse underserved communities. Prior experiences, both domestically and abroad, have given him insight into the development of systems that would improve health care to these communities. During medical school, Dr. Swain treated patients in urgent care clinics in Costa Rica and Chile and conducted an analysis of Chilean and Costa Rican health care systems. He found an increase in the disparities in health care indicators with an increase in the privatization of health care systems. Additionally, he worked as a project manager at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. In this position, he worked with senior leadership to implement the Meaningful Use Program and he helped develop the proposal for Compass Care, a program to improve care coordination for the most high-risk children with complex medical needs. In recognition of his achievements and contributions, Harvard Medical School awarded Dr. Swain the prestigious Presidential Scholars Award and the Harvard Medical School Community Service Award for outstanding leadership in community outreach. Initially i thought he was ok and was going to get a double surgery. Things went downhill from there. The secretary for the 2nd doctor was disrespectful, the visit was odd. After i called Dr. Swain and he seemed receptive but after and never got a follow up and when I recvd a CT scan report i called numerous times about it since there was more in store then the initial visit. The only communication I recvd was from the billing agent about what the plastic surgery portion was gonna cost. But even then i told her that I didnt know how to communicate since no one had even been in contact with me. She even agreed. I cannot do business with people that have such disregard for me.
