Dr. Jacob was exceptional. I was a new patient and he saw me immediately even though it was within a short time of requesting an appointment. He was thorough, professional, smart, kind and overall wonderful. I cannot remember a better experience with a doctor and I feel completely confident about having confirmed my upcoming surgery with him.

I will recommend Dr Jacob. His bed side manner is excellent. He did not express any of that ego I’ve experienced with other surgeons. He is east to understand and patient. I am still have tests to take and believe Dr. Jacob will explain results well when the time is right.

Dr. Jacob was very pleasant, knowledgeable and concise. During the consultation, it felt more like talking to a friend that a doctor (in a good way). I highly recommend Dr. Jacob.
Outstanding , knowledgeable, thorough .
Verified patient
Dr. Jacob was amazing! He was able to understand what my condition likely was, and took immediate steps to do all that was needed to make a diagnosis. He is very concerned, compassionate, proactive, and communicative. He even reached out to me a few days later to see how I was doing. I would recommend Dr. Jacob to everyone needing a wonderful doctor to listen to them and take action in order to address their concerns. Life is scary and having a doctor like him to help you through a scary moment is absolutely invaluable.
Surgery is a big deal. I due diligenced several doctors over a year and felt the most comfortable and confident with Dr. Jacob, his team, and the full process of how they managed my inquiries and surgery. On top of being a very experience surgeon, teaching others the techniques, Dr. Jacob is extremely attentive to any constraints I may have, uncertainty and was quick to allow for these uncertainties while suggestion action plans as I developed my confidence in moving forward. (Specifically I had a strangulated hernia, so the constraints were deciding between waiting more to reduce costs or jump right in - with enough notice for Dr. Jacob & his team of course). I’m so happy and slowly becoming more and more mobile. Planning to run a half Ironman in 4 months - which will really be the ultimate test of the mesh and surgery. Fingers crossed!

My appointment went smooth, DrJacob took his time to thoroughly explain my condition and the treatment plan for me. He is very personable and knowledgeable.

Dr. Brian Jacob stands apart from the rest. He actually thoroughly listens to you and discusses all possible options with you that would best suit your needs. After visiting 1 too many doctors for my diastasis recti and umbilical hernia I finally found the one that can fix me without pushing me into a tummy tuck. I’m so happy to have found dr.Brian and I look forward to having this procedure done with him. I felt so at ease from the moment I met him, simply the best!

Excellent doctor and efficient office
Very thorough.
Good man
Verified patient
Dr. Jacob was highly personable, very well trained, and predisposed to take the time to find the definitive diagnosis of my issue and once found, to handle it in the best way, whether medically, surgically or perhaps via physical therapy. I was would recommend him to anyone that might have a hernia or some injury which presents in a similar fashion to a hernia. He is a runner, so he is even more specifically knowledgeable of sports injuries.
Verified patient
This was the third hernia surgeon I consulted with. I didn't connect well with others, who had an aggressive and ambiguous approach. Dr. Jacob listened to my history and provided a roadmap for next steps that made me feel like we could get on a comfortable path for my issues.
I didn’t like that he would focus on telling me to get gastric bypass surgery when I came to him for a hernia and horrible pain in my abdomen and sides. I am only 6 months postpartum, there’s a pandemic and a racial uprising happening, AND I’m already saying I can barely function/show up for my kid and I am a single mom- but hey! Sure! Let’s add a painful weight loss surgery that is also very mentally taxing when I’m already barely hangin in there and have postpartum depression and the world is falling apart! Guess I’ll just add that to the list of things for me to do in isolation with a small baby- “Heal from gastric bypass surgery alone with a 6 month old” CHECK! The fact that I was never asked about my mental health but was recommended a surgery that will heavily impact it while already being in a sensitive and vulnerable time of new motherhood is ridiculous. I’m not in pain because of my weight. I’m in pain because I broke my body to safely deliver my child and have received little postpartum care because the world fell apart and i was forced into isolation with a newborn after i almost died giving birth. If you say you care about people’s weight start with caring about their brain and their quality of life first.

Dr. Jacob is the man to see if you have a hernia in NYC. For context I have had 2 inguinal hernia surgeries, one by the head of surgery at one of the top 3 NYC hospitals and the other with Dr. Jacob. I can say the experience with Dr. Jacob was better in almost every way. Its one thing to find a surgeon who is technically very skilled—Dr. Jacob is one of the best known Hernia Surgeons in the country—I found him by asking a friend who is a surgeon who asked around and came back with Dr. Jacob’s name. The other thing is that he is super friendly and accessible, spends as much time with you as you need, is super straightforward and reassuring with any concerns. Among surgeons, some are highly skilled in the OR (wouldn’t want to compromise on that) and some are very kind/nice/have a good way with patients, Dr. Jacob is both. He is out of network on insurance plans so that is the one reason he may not be the right fit for everyone but my insurance paid back most of his fee. For me the level of stress with him and his staff was way lower and my confidence that I was getting the best care made the marginal spend well worth it.
One of the more passionate doctors that I see. He takes the time to listen and understand your problems before jumping to conclusions. Highly recommended.
My first visit with Dr. Jacob two months after a nagging sports injury. He has an easy manner and is super knowledgeable. I will see him again in a month or so after imaging analysis.

We drove 8 hours to meet him and god it worth everything min, th staff was so friendly and thy ralked to us on a personal level. Whole experience lovely and competent office staff. ;) The doctor's bedside manner and clarity of explanation of my problem and the procedure at each step of the journey was fantastic. Most importantly the procedure was a 100% necess. Pain gone, lump gone. Dr. Jacob even fixed the hernia on the other side when he discovered it in mid procedures on the right side. First rate explanation of the whole thing post procedure. I recommend strongly without hesitation. Best of all: minimum pain post operation. I had non-laproscopic procedure on the same hernia 3 yrs ago and was in agony for days afterwards. This time was wonderful.
Great visit. Great doctor. Great Results. Dr. Jacoubs is a 21st century version of the doctor who puts the patient first. The visit to his office made me confident. He would do a great job & the results of my surgery confirmed it was the right choice. I strongly recommend him.
