He continued his education at Emory University School of Medicine where he was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree. His post-doctoral training began with an internship in general surgery at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals, Charity Hospital of Louisiana. He was a resident in general surgery at Boston University Affiliated Hospital, and a resident in ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Additionally, he served a pre-residency fellowship in glaucoma at Tufts New England Medical Center and a Clinical Fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Infirmary.
Dr. Kaplan is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C and is affiliated with Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown University Hospital, Silver Spring Ophthalmology, and Friendship Surgery Center.
