Dr. Barrett founded The Digestive Health Center of Boston with the purpose to provide the highest level of compassionate care in the treatment of functional digestive disorders. His mission is to educate and communicate to those who suffer, with life-disrupting symptoms, that there are answers and successful treatments that can resolve their symptoms and prevent the reoccurrence.
Dr. Barrett’s retrospective analysis, conducted in 2010, revealed the remarkable successes in his new approach to the treatment of IBS. His passion for finding medical solutions to functional digestive disorders has resulted in successfully enhancing the quality of life for hundreds who have followed his treatments.
As a well-respected physician in the community and among medical professionals, Dr. Barrett is well known for his dedication and compassionate care and is recognized as an expert in the field of Gastroenterology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Barrett was raised in the Boston area, attended Boston Latin School and is an honors graduate of Boston College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Dr. Barrett received his medical degree from Tufts University Medical School and completed his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Internal School of Medicine and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Dr. Barrett is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
When Dr. Barrett is not engrossed in his professional work, he is heavily involved with his children’s’ schools and activities and enjoys fishing off the coast of Cape Cod.
