Dr. Companioni was born in Havana Cuba and spent the first years of his life there. He and his family moved to Florida in 1960. With the exception of college he has been a Tampa resident since then. He is a 1970 graduate of Jesuit High school and graduated Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in 1974. Dr. Companioni graduated from the University of South Florida Medical School in 1979. He did an internship and four years of residency at the University of South Florida and its affiliated hospitals. In 1984 he began his private practice in Tampa. He became board certified in 1986 and was elected Fellow to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 1988.
Dr. Companioni has been board recertified in 1996 and 2006. During his years of private practice in Tampa he was appointed an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedics at University of South Florida and served as Vice Chief of Surgery Subspecialties at University Community Hospital. He is a member of many professional associations. He has authored multiple orthopedic presentations and articles.
Dr. Companioni is an avid sports and fitness participant. He loves spending time with his wife, Patricia and his two daughters, Lisa and Lauren, who are also involved in the medical field.
