Dr. Ascunce takes care of patients in Manhattan from his office in Union Square and Beth Israel Medical Center. He graduated with honors from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. During residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell, he was elected Assistant Chief Resident. He then left New York to complete a fellowship at the University of Miami, where he developed an interest in pancreatic diseases. After fellowship, he returned to New York and completed an Advanced Interventional Endoscopy fellowship to treat the most technically demanding GI problems.
Dr. Ascunce is a member of the faculty at Beth Israel Medical Center in the Division of Digestive Diseases. He is the son of Cuban and Spanish parents and speaks perfect Spansih. Since his time as a decorated varsity athlete and Big East Soccer Champion with the Georgetown Hoyas, he continues to play soccer recreationally on our city fields. Dr. Ascunce has treated a large demographic of patients and has traveled to teach young doctors and treat patients from Tanzania to Nicaragua to Manahttan. He demonstrates a true vocation to patient care and looks forward to meeting you.
