Dr. Heather Ufberg earned a Master’s Degree in Education in School Psychology at Columbia University in 2004 followed by a Doctoral Degree in Child Psychology at Yeshiva University in 2007. She is the Manager of Behavioral Health Services at St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children in addition to her role with Ilana D. Rosenberg Ph.D. and Associates. Dr. Ufberg has presented on a number of topics including mindfulness, communication skills, brain injury, adolescent mental health, behavior management and stress management. She loves to work therapeutically with children, adolescents, young adults and their families.
Dr. Ufberg is trained in a number of modalities such as mindfulness, relaxation techniques, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, behavioral interventions, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She takes a strength based approach in order to help clients see their own personal capacities and specialness.
Dr. Ufberg is experienced with a wide range of issues including low self esteem, trauma, social difficulties, anxiety and mood disorders as well as developmental concerns such as related to ADHD, Intellectual Disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Dr. Ufberg enjoys helping families overcome behavioral and relationship challenges with their children through developing increased understanding and insight combined with an array of new practical strategies.
Dr. Ufberg has a special interest in supporting individuals with complex medical conditions such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and chronic pain disorders. While she strongly emphasizes the use of evidence based practices which is tailored for each individual, building a strong bond and therapeutic relationship is at the heart of all her work.
Dr. Ufberg went into the field of psychology because of a long standing, innate passion for helping others feel good. Nothing is more motivating than knowing her work has made a difference for one individual and family at a time.
