He was an extraordinary listener and very patient. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. He seems to get a real grasp of what's going on and how to support you. He's ready to do real work with you,
I must say I am a self proclaimed know it all, due to the hours I spend educating myself on different behaviors and disorders of the mind and also because I am in the medical field myself. However, Dr. McCurtis is very knowledgeable in his area of expertise. He was able to read me and my situation very accurately. He was very professional and took his time to get a thorough background information. He is very detailed and clarifies information that you tell him if it doesnt seem right. Overall, I was impressed by the first visit. I immediately referred him to someone I know that needs similar help.

More about Dr. Henry McCurtis, MD

I am a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, with a specialty in addiction psychiatry with an integrative psychiatry practice based on a diagnostic assessment and treatment guided by biological, psychological, social, and behavioral paradigms. I have a developmental orientation toward understanding human behavior. I have a special interest in attachment styles and their implications in interpersonal conflict in families and couples. I have a specialty in psychoanalysis that informs my approach to elucidate the experiences of the past that influence the perspective in the here and now that motivates one to think, feel, and act in predictable patterns that influence agency, identity, empathy, and intimacy. I have a cross cultural sensitivity developed in the crucible of the rural South during the sunset of Jim Crow and the dawn of the Civil Rights area and refined in the academic environments of a Traditionally Black College during the most intense period of the social change.

You may need to leave extra waiting time for an appointment with Dr. McCurtis, but he's worth it.
very anxious and belligerent spent 3 hours typing each word and making up words and harrassing.
Great doctor. Trust him to be both understanding and clinical in his approach to helping you.
Draining but always productive and inching closer to better understanding of myself.
Put me at ease and was very comforting. Definitely planning on returning.
very informative, shed light on how to relate w/depression & trauma.
listened very well and gave back appropriate responses
I think it was informative and insightful, like always.
I scheduled my very first appointment and was later informed that I needed to reschedule. Fine. I did. I arrived at the new date and at 4:55 pm for my 5 pm appointment. I waited for 15 minutes, and then knocked on the doctor’s door. He told me to wait. I waited for another 30 minutes. When I finally saw the doctor, he did apologize. I asked him if he frequently runs late, and the doctor said, “It happens.” I told him that this relationship was not going to work for me. I left and will never return.

I thought that my visit was very insightful, educational, and euphoric. Through the mentorship of Dr. McCurtis, I am learning how to navigate through the obstacles of adulthood. Dr. McCurtis has helped me form my identity, discern my pessimistic view of people, and he has shown me the template of how to become a man.
I think the visit was extremely insightful and informative. Thank you for saving my family's lives. I will always be thank you for your guidance and support. My sons will be better husbands, fathers, and sons because of you. Continue to stay blessed.
Dr. McCurtis is always professional and accessible. He enables me to evaluate issues and see options for alleviating pain. The visits are so positive and constructive. My family and I have seen him periodically over the years for counseling and advice.
