As an orthopedic surgeon with specialty training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, Dr. Igor Immerman treats all conditions of the upper extremity, from the simple to the complex. He has a specific interest and special training in peripheral nerve repair and reconstruction, and the use of the Ilizarov method for complex upper extremity problems. Dr. Immerman’s philosophy of care is that each patient should be treated as a unique person and not by a "cookie-cutter", protocol-only approach. He spends time getting to know each patient, and works together with the patient to choose the right treatment, whether surgical or nonsurgical, that is best for their specific situation.
Dr. Immerman grew up in Moscow, Russia, and moved to Maryland with his family at the age of 13. He graduated with honors with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and received a merit-based scholarship to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. After medical school, he completed residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the prestigious New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. Dr. Immerman received sub-specialty training in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery at UC Davis in Sacramento, California, where he studied under Dr. Robert M. Szabo, an internationally renowned professor. After fellowship, Dr. Immerman traveled internationally and studied hand and peripheral nerve surgery in Israel and Russia, including a fellowship at the birthplace of the Ilizarov method in Siberia, Russia. Throughout his career, Dr. Immerman has over 20 peer-reviewed publications in medical journals, serves on committees in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and as a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

The wait was terrible! We got there half an hour before our appt and we were not seen until 2 hours later. Dr. only spent 10 mins with patient. I would recommend not taking too many patients over those who had appointments. Worse experience at a doctors office ever.
