A gastroenterologist, Ira Hanan, MD, cares for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and gastrointestinal bleeding. Whenever possible, Dr. Hanan diagnoses and treats gastrointestinal conditions with interventional endoscopy -- a minimally invasive procedure in which thin, flexible tubes are used to visualize the GI tract.
Dr. Hanan is an expert in his field, having co-authored more than 10 book chapters and numerous scientific articles on colorectal disease, including the impact of fertility and pregnancy on inflammatory bowel disease. He also is active in medical education, teaching medical students, residents and fellows about gastroenterology and endoscopy in classroom, inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Dr. Hanan has been named to the list of "Top Doctors" by Castle Connelly, Inc., as well as one of the "Best Doctors in America" by Best Doctors, Inc.
