Dr. Itzhak C. Haimovic is a board-certified neurologist with over 30 years of experience and additional qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology and Electroencephalography. He specializes in epilepsy and musculoskeletal disease at his practice in Great Neck, New York, for which he has been continuously recognized by Castle and Connolly as one of the Best Doctors in the area. He has also been chosen by Spears as one of the Best Doctors in America every year since 1996, and as the Best Doctor on Long Island and Best Neurologist on Long Island by the Long Island Press for three years in a row.
In addition to his long-term private practice, Dr. Haimovic also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the New York University School of Medicine, and is an honorary Police Surgeon for the City of New York. He holds appointments at several local hospitals, including North Shore University Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Haimovic is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Haimovic graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from New York University, before completing his medical degree at New York Medical College. His postgraduate training included a medical internship and residency in Neurology at North Shore University Hospital and Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital. To further advance his training, Dr. Haimovic also completed a fellowship in Electroencephalography and Epilepsy at the Neurological Institute of Columbia University.

Dr. Haimovic is superb! You can tell right away that he knows his stuff. He listened, he checked out my concerns and set me up for further testing to get a better idea of what’s going on. I was impressed that he called from an intercom phone and had reception book my dates for tests. I’ve never seen it done that way before. No fuss, no muss.
If I wasn’t traveling out of town all my appointments would be done in a week! Best specialty service ever!

Excellent doctor!! Many reviews mentioned the long wait to be seen, however, staff and doctor were wonderful. The wait to see Dr. Haimovic was 30 minutes. The receptionist was professional, sweet and communicative. Dr. Haimovic has wonderful bed side manner. He was attentive, thorough and answered all my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Haimovic, as he is an excellent diagnostician.

I am a physician and can testify to how difficult it is to find a good doctor. Dr. Haimovic is one of the best I have ever seen.
He took the most thorough history and performed the most thorough physical exam I have ever had. He listened deeply, took all the time I needed. I felt that he took my concerns seriously. I relaxed knowing I did not have to advocate for myself, feeling confident that he would find out what may be going on. Truly excellent.
Be prepared to wait - he is generous to a fault and sees many patients so the wait time is sometimes quite long. But I assure you, he is worth the wait and will take all the time you need when it is your turn. So grateful.

Staff is very friendly and helpful, Dr Haimovic is very thorough listening to all of your concerns and gives a detailed exam. Although the wait time is longer than can be expected, the care you receive is worth the wait.

dr. haemovic is a brilliant physician, and despite the unacceptable wait in the office --
today it was two hours -- and i got there at 6:45am for a 7am appointment - saw the doctor at 8:45am. he is definitely worth it. what a remarkable human being.

Excellent doctors who explain what they are doing and many tests done on site. Only negative is the very long wait time; scheduling needs to be improved by a lot. I waited over 2 1/2 hours before seeing a doctor. Office is very busy.

Dr. Haimovic was like going to visit my Dad. His friendly bedside manner and knowledge exemplify what a doctor should be. His last comments to me were we need to get you out of pain. You cannot continue like this. And he did. All doctors should take their oath that seriously, and combine that with a warm and friendly bedside manner. What more could you ask for.

I showed up on time for my 7 am appointment. Shortly after I arrived, another patient arrived and said to the front desk, “I have a 7:30 and I was told there is one person before me but I’m a doctor and need to be back at the office by 9:30.” She was seen before me and I ended up waiting over an hour to see the doctor. Why is it my problem this patient-doctor didn’t plan her timing better? When I complained about the long wait to the nurse she said “it’s because he spends a lot of time with his patients.” He spent the standard 15 min with me. The long wait ruined the experience of seeing this doctor.
