A board certified ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, Dr. Burcham graduated from the University of Missouri Medical School with clinical and academic honors in 1975. He conducted his internship in Family Practice at the University of Alabama and his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado. He has continued his education through many post graduate courses.
Dr. Burcham specializes in medical and surgical treatment of the eye and has been practicing in the Denver Metro area since 1979. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Colorado Medical Society, Colorado Society of Eye Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Burcham believes in giving back to the local and world communities. He donates his time once a month to see indigent patients at the Denver Stout Street Clinic. Each year, he helps organize medical mission trips to Panama and other countries in Central America. Accompanied by his wife Vickie, other volunteer medical staff, and lay volunteers from his church, Dr. Burcham performs over 70 cataract surgeries on each trip. The patients walk for miles to receive this free care which would otherwise be unavailable to them. Many are blind and are given the blessed gift of sight.
Dr. Burcham enjoys Colorado’s abundance of outdoor activities by spending time with his family. He and his wife are active members of their church.

I arrived late to my appointment due to the fact that no one told me all the outer doors would be locked and I’d have to go through the main hospital entrance. I drove around for ten minutes trying to find an unlocked door.
When I mentioned this to the receptionist (Trina?) she was flippant about it—and was coughing. I would have been on time if anyone had mentioned this when I made the appointment, or when I got a reminder email.
Otherwise my visit with the doctor’s assistant and Dr. Burcham was pleasant.

I appreciated his complete honesty with the diagnosis and his bedside manner. He has a very gentle and caring spirit which made it easy to trust him. Id highly recommend him to everyone, especially senior citizens who don't get treated this kind at other facilities.

This was my first visit and I didn't know what to expect. I was undergoing eye problems that to me were unusual and concerning.
The doc did a thorough exam of my eye and reassured me that the condition was not unusual and did not appear serious. His "bedside manner" was so reassuring.
He also updated me on eye treatments that were available that would address other conditions. It was good to know the options!

I was surprised (in a negative way) to see that they still dilate routinely. I have been to other ophthalmologists who have the technology to avoid the inconvenience of dilating. I budgeted an hour before my next engagement (as is consistent with my previous ophthalmologists), and once I hit the hour and 15 minute mark and my appointment was still not complete, I had to excuse myself and reschedule the second half of my appointment.

Very much liked Dr. Burcham - but am wondering why my eye has not cleared up with good vision without my glasses. He did say to give it another couple of weeks - and then the RX needs to be corrected so I can see better. When talking to other people, their vision was good right away or soon after. I am a little baffled - did the procedure fail to correct? He also said that after I have the other eye done that I could probably go without glasses - but it is not at the point where I need that one. I am confused.

Dr. Burcham was very professional in my yearly eye exam. Liked the fact that I have had the beginnings of cataracts in my eyes and he was letting me dictate the treatment of them . Stated if my vision was not impaired the cataracts we would see in a year how they were. Would revisit him if they worsen.

The tech (Chrystal?) saw me right away, but there was a delay before Dr. Burcham got to me, owing to some reshuffling of some priority patients as I understand. The Dr. apologized for the wait and proceeded to examine my eyes and inform me of an easy to solution to my complaint of blurriness in one eye. And the procedure could be performed in office next week. Super.

I have been a patient of Dr. Burcham for well over 15 years and have always received excellent care. Dr. Burcham takes the time to explain and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Entire office staff is top notch from the woman taking care of paperwork and scheduling to the technicians who perform the preliminary procedures before the exam like checking for glaucoma,performing the refraction exam to examining the eyes and administering the drops. I highly recommend this practice.
