Dr. James Morgan is a Board Certified internist. He received his Medical Degree from Creighton University, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Loyola Univeristy Chicago Medical Center. He served his fourth year of training as Chief Resident in internal medicine at Loyola. After residency, he continued on as the Assistant Program director for the Internal Medicine Residency program. He simultaneously served as the Assistent Chief of Medicine at the Hines VA Hospital. When he returned to the New York area, Dr. Morgan worked at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan, as an ER attending physician. His tenure there included September 11, 2001 and the ensuing anthrax scare. In 2006, Dr. Morgan co-founded Lamp for Haiti, a not for profit organiation that provides quality medical care in Cite Soleil, a congested and marginalized urban community on the outskirts of Port-Au Prince, Haiti. He has served as Lamp's Medical Director since Lamp's inception, and is now President of the organization.
Dr. Morgan is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a member of the International Society for Travel Medicine. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Robert Carlson Award for outstanding clinical and humanitarian acumen, the Zanmi Ayiti award from the Haiti Solidarity Network of the Northeast, and the Inspirational Clinician Award from Loyola University Chicago Medical Center.
