Being from the West Coast, I never imagined I would end up living in a city that actually has four seasons. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, and I remember having to drive hours away to see any snow. I came to Chicago to start medical school after finishing my undergraduate training at Stanford University, and I never turned back. I fell in love with the city by the lake and was impressed by everything that Chicago had to offer. When I finished medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I felt like this was my new home.
Medical school sparked my interest in surgery, and the Metropolitan Group Hospitals Residency in General Surgery made it possible for me to complete my surgical training in the Chicagoland area. I definitely enjoy catching up with family back in California, especially with my mother who always supported my endeavors even if it meant being so far away from her. I am thankful to her for my fluency in Spanish which I acquired at a young age being around parents and grandparents who were all born in Mexico. I welcome diversity, and now as a member of Precision Surgical Group, I am committed to working within our communities to provide the best surgical care possible.
