Very friendly and helpful. There was no wait time and he gave me his cell phone to ask any questions off hours. I have and will continue to go back.

He has a refreshingly unconventional approach as a Doctor, but I can hostly say I really appreciate his directness, availability and follow ups.

More about Dr. Jason Jaramillo, MD

My favorite thing about being a doctor is spending time with my patients and being able to use my education and training to improve their lives when I can, and to be given the privilege of offering my consolation in difficult times as well. A physician has a unique position in society in general, but it is the time spent in conversation with my individual patients and their families that is most rewarding to me. This ties into what it is that I value about Sherpaa: it seems to clear away many of the structural barriers our broken health care system has built between patient and doctor. What makes NYC special to you? New York City has really grown on me over the course of my 7 years here. When I first moved here I was fascinated by the sheer size of the city, now I find all the little things about it intriguing. I like the little cramped restaurants that pop up all over the place, and I like the small little venues to see music played by what seems like a limitless supply of talented performers. Most of all, I love the fact that in this city you can find someone doing something new or trying something new in every field. New Yorkers have got to be one of the greatest collections of dynamic and engaged people on the planet, and I’m proud to count myself as one of them. Besides being a doctor, how do you spend your time? I enjoy reading fiction and non-fiction in my free time and I also enjoy spending time outdoors. I bike, swim, surf, hike, fish, and snowboard. And when I’m not doing any of this I love quality TV and watching movies.

Yes, I very much like that on going relationships between patient and Dr. is this style for medical practice.

Very good base of alternative and main stream medical knowledge, I liked him a lot !
Very personable and cool guy! I like that he is reachable by text message.
Great Doctor! Professional, friendly, personable and highly knowledgeable.

Very pleasantly surprised by the way doctor Jason treats his patients.

He is very helpful, intelligent and caring. Highly recommended.
Brilliant Doctor. Awesome person, all around great experience!
Not much to talk about because my case wasn't too involved.
Very kind man. Answered all my questions right away.
I wouldn't recommend this doctor, specifically because I felt like he didn't do anything, worked out if his home, and was only a consultant. An expensive one.

It is not your typical scenario. Dr. J was great but I would rather go to an official doctors office where my insurance is processed for me. Getting a reimbursement from a Square Card receipt is difficult.
Dr J. Was amazing! I have had such severe anxiety about identifying a PC Doctor in NYC, due to the terrible treatment and rushed diagnosis that I have received in the past. Dr. J. engaged with me in a way that I have never found with a doctor in NYC. He didn't jump head first into where my body ached, but rather asked about who I was, where I was from, If I had a partner, such that he could understand holistically, who I was. He prescribed a few medications based off of our conversations and gave me some great referrals to specialists AND wrote an order for some pretty in-depth blood work. In addition to that, we spoke about my weight and sleeping habits (two issues i struggle with) and Dr. J, pretty much understood my needs without having to exchange many words. I'm sure that I've found my Primary Care Physician in Dr, Jaramillio! He essentially charges his yearly co-pays up front, which works fine for me, but may be jarring for some patients, so just an FYI.

Dr. Jaramillo is thorough, detail oriented, calming and really goes out of his way to ensure the well being of his patients. The world could use more doctors like him!

I was kicked out of his office. I go to the coordinates given to me today. It's just a small empty room with a massage table, and bunch of reiki/reflexology stuff on the walls. No one is there. No one is around at all. I call the number. The doctor picks up the phone. He says he will be there shortly. He shows up. I ask him about all the reiki stuff. He says he shares the room with a holistic practitioner. He then gives me a whole pitch about how he runs this early morning clinic, but does house visits later in the day. He tells me he used to hate his job, and then went to Africa and practiced medicine there. Now he's looking for patients that he wants to see for the next 20, 30, 40 years. He then tells me that he's going to ask me a bunch of annoying questions, and then will give me a blood test. And that Quest diagnostics is great! I ask him about insurance. He says "I don't file paperwork, but I am in network, blah blah blah" At this point, there's just one question I have left to ask. "So, where's your diploma?" He rummages through a pile of crap, picks something out, and shows it to me. I make out "State University of New York Education Department." He then tells me he is insulted and kicks me out of his office.
Absolutely great doctor. It's usually very hard to find a good doctor now a days so I'm glad I came across him and will continue to use his services. He's not only very patient and listens to your problems but he is very knowledgeable in his field.

Dr. Jaramillo was extremely responsive and very detailed oriented during my consultation. He is very professional, friendly and informative -- I highly recommend him.

He is a consumate professional: he maintains a caring, attentive, and comforting bedside manner, as well as demonstrating a thorough knowledge of medicine. He sincerely sticks to his philosophy of knowing patients to treat them fully.
Dr Jaramillo was helpful, informative, and personable. I was seen right away and he took many of my personal factors into consideration for helping me with my problems. I will be seeing him again.
Verified patient
Dr. Jaramillo is a rare breed of new doctors who aim to treat the patient as an individual rather than just a statistic. He took great care to fully understand the context and history of my existing problems, and provided practical, professional advice for treatment and prevention. He seems to apply good sense when prescribing medication and treatment, and seems to prefer the least invasive approach if such effective treatments are available. So far the best GP I've ever visited!
Verified patient
He's well informed, very personable and friendly. Really knew his stuff and set my mind at ease. Will definitely be back to see him should I need further care!
Verified patient
Dr. Jaramillo wants to change how primary care works, and I'm a believer. He wants to get to know his patients and build long-term relationships that focus on preventive care. He gives all of them his cell number. His model is an affordable flat fee for a full year of his service, and he prefers making house calls to office visits. Our first appointment lasted 45 minutes, and I'll be coming back to get a full work up — blood work, cholesterol test, liver and kidney function, etc. I'm really impressed with how he runs his practice.

Friendly, knowledgeable and relatable. Definitely a different medical experience from the sterile, impersonal environments one mostly finds in the city.

I used to work at a medical practice and I understand why physicians don't like dealing with insurance companies. I'm also a performance artists and have had the displeasure of ending up in the Er for lack of insurance. Dr. Jason Jaramillo's approach to health care management is a relief. Zero waiting. He asked me about my life not just about my health issue. Once we addressed my health issue, he didn't disappear to the next patient. He actually asked if there were any other health issues I wanted to address. He is listed with some insurance companies but you have to self submit the bill to your insurance provider. Not as hard as it sounds since he gives you the codes to send to your insurance company. Plus the first payment covers a full year of consultation so it's like paying all my copays at once. I can actually call him and ask about a medication whereas some physicians will make you go in and be seen regardless of how minor the question is. If you are an artist he will work with your budget. If you want quality medical care this is the guy to go to. I have found my doctor for life.

Excellent as always. I have seen Dr. Jaramillo many times and is always very friendly and professional. Would send any and all my friends there.

Dr. J is great! He was easy going, and really seemed to care about any issues I brought up to him during our meeting. Would recommend to anyone looking for a primary care physician!
Dr. J is smart, kind, and easy to talk to. And his practice is set up in a creative way that gives him a lot more one-on-one time with patients. It's incredibly convenient to reach him with a question or make an appointment. He makes frequent house calls and also gives his patients constant access to him via phone and email. The first time I contacted his office to make an appointment, I thought I was calling the front desk, but I was actually calling Dr. J's personal cell phone. I left a message and he called me back 2 minutes later, saying "I missed a call from this number, how can I help you?" I've only had one appointment so far, but I'm already so glad I found this doc!
I appreciate that Dr. Jaramillo takes a holistic approach to medicine and considers diet, lifestyle, and whatever else may factor in. He takes the time to get all the information from the patient & follows up. It has been hard for me to find a doctor that can relate to my eastern view of the body etc., but I definitely feel comfortable and none judged by Dr. Jaramillo.
Fantastic Doc, can't recommend him enough.
He is attentive to ones needs. My first time seeing him. I got seen right away. I will keep him as my future doctor. So far so good.
Verified patient
He is very knowledgeable, personable, accessible and spent a long time talking with me to get to know me and my health history.

Great!

Hey. This guy is excellent. What else? If you're looking for a doctor that has zero personality, no interest other than the bottom line, and Wikipedias your diagnosis then Dr. Jaramillo (Ha-rra-mee-yoh) is the man who will make you think twice. Which is good because those traits would be a bummer, and I'm sorry that you feel that way. Have fun. Book Dr. J.
Verified patient
Dr. Jaramillo is warm and attentive, and it is clear that he is looking to build a relationship with patients, and not just add them to the register! Very happy to have found such a thoughtful and transparent provider in the city.
My kind of doctor. Dr. Jaramillo's patient treatment is a breathe of fresh air--focusing on quality consultations instead of the revolving door, factory structure of typical health clinics.
Verified patient
Love his approach to avoiding HMO's. This MD makes house calls and works out of a private office. The return of Old School. He handled all my health needs; granted none were super-serious, but it'd great to book and find an MD who treats you like a person.

Great first experience with Dr. Jaramillo. Very personable, takes the time to get on a personal and comfortable level with you and really explains things will, explains his motivations and reasoning. Very pleased!
Dr. Jaramillo spends a lot of time with you and seems very interested in a holistic approach. He's also very accessible outside regular appointment times. He asks good questions to help learn more about your issues and history.
Great. Informative, professional, and patient with explaining things. Even followed up the next day to see how things were going. Would definitely recommend!
Jason is a great doctor, through and through. What's great about him is that he takes time to learn the patient not only for their medical needs, but personal lives too - which is very helpful all around. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a primary care doctor!

Dr. Jaramillo is amazing. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. With healthcare as expensive as it is today, I cant say enough how great it is to have a Dr. that not only offers affordable service, but makes you feel like he cares about your health and wellbeing. So often in NYC, a patient is just a number, not so with Dr. Jaramillo.
I really enjoyed my appointment with Dr Jaramillo. He was thoughtful and asked some good questions about my lifestyle and health. I really walked away feeling that he cares about his patients.
Dr Jaramillo was personable, precise, and very knowledgable. I came in for a visit after feeling mild cardiovascular pain and he thoroughly assessed all of the symptoms. I highly recommend his services.
Dr J is great and I was seen immediately. He is a very personable Dr and really looks at you as a whole person and not just parts that need to be fixed. I will definitely be seeing him again. Also, as a side note, he told me that he prefers treating patients in their own home so he can do house calls.

A very good experience.
My visit was very enjoyable. Dr. Jaramillo was very approachable and easy to talk to. I was very comfortable and liked the fact that he listened and consideredy opinion as opposed to taking a he knows best approach. I recommend him highly.
