Patient reviews for Dr. Jim Savage
He’s different, he takes his time and teaches you about your body and what can you do to get better and also how to understand your body when it’s complaining. Very interesting doctor for sure.
waited around for a specific vaccine they did not have. I included in notes section of booking appoint thru zocdoc what vaccine I specifically needed. apparently no one read it. I showed up, waited around and then told they didn't have it. what was the point? the doctor was nice enough, very chatty...maybe to kill time waiting for the nurse to finally be ready w every shot except the one I booked appointment for.
Jim Savage is a very knowledgeable person. Sometimes he might meander off with lovely discussions, so please be ready to bring the topic back to the main point - however, he is excellent and had some very insightful feedback and advice for me. I really appreciate his wisdom. Thank you!
Knows how to connect with and understand a patient.
Best Dr. apt i've had in years
Do not visit this Doctor. He was incredibly inappropriate, talking to me about how mixed race people have better bodies, talking about tantra and that he imagined another patient of his would get scabies from sleeping around, looking at my hands and telling me that I must be a dominant woman and then talking about why some people are hypersexual. It was so weird and uncomfortable and awful. I'd just come in for a vaccination. He just kept talking about unrelated things, objectifying women, and prying into my personal life. Also, I had to wait almost 2hrs.
The doctor goes on and on about random topics. It was really difficult to keep him focused. The appointment took a lot longer than expected.
Not impressed and talked about anything other than the reason why I was visiting.
Chatty doctor but he knows his stuff. Wait time of about 25 minutes between sitting down and doctor getting to me.
He's certainly an eccentric fellow but he is down to earth and real about illnesses, mental health and general wellness. He was helpful in diagnosing me and I feel much better after.
Wasted an hour of my time to then tell me they don’t take blood samples at the office. Sent me to a different place that wasn’t open that day.
Pros: - Dr Savage is good natured - Explains the issue/causes and precautions that could be taken in detail Cons: - It has happened twice that I booked an appointment and then when I showed up I had to wait really long. - Ordered some tests and made some diagnosis in the first visit. In the followup visit he seemed to have no records of why those tests were order and what Issue we were diagnosing. Thankfully I had already started treatment with a specialist at this point, but he completely went off the course after having made some good Diagnosis in the first appointment. - Charged an extra fees for "Off hours visit", without the office ever notifying me while I was booking or visiting there.
I booked an appointment for out of country vaccinations. After more than an hour of waiting, Dr. Savage was able to see me. During my time there, he rambled about politics, active volcanos, and the method in which I blew my nose. I asked him to please get to the point and to give me the vaccines the CDC required me to get, to which he directed his nurse to finally give me the vaccines. As someone who's time i'm sure is very valuable, Dr. Savage has no regard for others.
Thankful he was willing to see me so late at 8pm! He had a ton of tips about general health and areas I need to watch out for like blood pressure and posture. Kind enough to get me the meds I needed right away since it was late and pharmacies weren’t open!
I really liked Dr. Savage! He’s very smart and taught me a lot about why I was constantly getting strep throat/sinus infections (as opposed to simply just writing my prescription). He’s very friendly and so are his staff. He is now my primary doctor and is located in a very convenient area in the city! Only downfall to my apt was that I waited almost 50-60 minutes in the doctors room after I had already seen the nurse. Perhaps it was just a one off experience!
Very informative and friendly, professional too; I'd definitely recommend him to anyone!
Dr. Savage is awesome! Very knowledgeable and helped break down what was causing my issues. 10/10 would recommend
Very nice dr. with good bedside manner. Practical and no-nonsense approach to things. Would visit again!
I booked an appointment with Dr. Savage through ZocDoc. I got to the office, signed in, filled out some paperwork, then waited for half an hour before being asked if I had an appointment. I said I had booked one through ZocDoc. The receptionist said they don't really book through ZocDoc, so I was basically a walk-in to them, and that the wait was 5 or 6 hours, so I could come back that evening. So they have a listing on ZocDoc to bring in traffic, but don't honor appointments scheduled through it? No thanks.
2 hours late/wait WITH appointment.
He was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.
very informative! i learned how to properly blow my nose and prevent UTIs on planes! a little hard to understand with the accent and fast speech, but defnitely very friendly, helpful and caring.
overall satisfactory, but Dr. Savage - is a bit hard to understand - went on many tangents that distracted from important info - and was unable to see me until 45+ mins after schedule
Great guy. Little eccentric but it made the visit enjoyable even though I felt like death. Will be back to see him whenever I'm sick.
Dr. Jim Savage is quite the character. I had two visits with him; during the first I waited 1 hour to be seen. His mind jumped all over the place and I could very clearly sense he was rushed. He talks extraordinarily fast so it was difficult to catch information, and he made strange assumptions about my lifestyle to explain my diagnosis. What was positive was that in my follow up appointment, he did go through and explain each of my test results one by one, which was both interesting and clarifying. Unfortunately these explanations were sprinkled with very off putting statements like "fall a few times and you'll die" "With this diagnosis, over time you'd definitely die" etc. He also started a tangential conversation about why humans should have tails, and why Chinese websites are clearly superior. What really topped the whole thing off was going to the pharmacy the following day to pick up my medication, finding out the prescription had never been sent by the nurse, and frantically calling the doctor to fax it over. I asked if it had been an accident or problem with the hardware. No. Silly me. The staff just never sent it. In summary, Dr. Jim Savage is an overbooked doctor with a disorganized staff. He is clearly intelligent, but his bedside manner needs to be improved before I would ever recommend someone to him.
Dr. Savage is the best! Highly recommend him to everyone I know.
hes the hardest working person i know and i am so so so SOO pleased he is my doctor. he's amazing whether im overseas on a business trip or just suddenly sick. he's been around for what must be decades, so he's definitely experienced and knowledgable and practical. he's the only doctor in his practice and he works tirelessly, long days and weekends. seriously, can't recommend him enough.
Found to be unprofessional. OK if urgent appointment needed but if you are looking for a long term primary care doc - look elsewhere
Best dr ever! I love this man. Helped me within 2 visits, after 10 years and multiple other Drs of torture not knowing why I get migraines.
I am from Europe and this was my first visit with the doctor in the US. Dr Savage (as well as his staff) were very professional and provided all that I needed! Highly recommendable!
Dr. Savage was great, he was very knowledgeable and provided an in depth explanation of everything. He quickly diagnosed me and made me feel comfortable that he knew what he was doing based on the detailed explanations he provided. He's also a pretty unique guy and interesting to talk to.
Dr Savage is really funny, and more importantly, his breadth of knowledge is huge. Really appreciate his care. Only downside is occasional long waits.
he gave me some good information about traveling abroad but could also go off on a tangent that I didn't understand
He was extremely unprofessional, late, and was unable to come up with a diagnosis (alongside being somewhat rude.) Worst experience I've had with a doctor to date.
Had to wait over an hour but as soon as I met Jim I understood why. Very caring and funny man. Took the time to explain my medical issue in detail as well as wax philosophical about politics and biology. Will definitely be sticking with him - I just hope the wait wont be so long next time.
I visited this physician to get some annual tests run and because I needed a GP's referral for a specialist, and Dr. Savage was completely insensitive when I explained that I recently attacked. He also told me that my shelf life was running out in reference to my age and that I'm single. It was a horrifying experience.
What a hoot! Dr. Savage was funny, personable and he showed me a way to blow my nose that changed my life. I will be using him as my primary care from now on if I can
DR savage was great. However I waited 45 minutes for 5 min with him. I made very clear on the phone that I was tight for time, was told it would be 10-15 min when I arrived and was continually told "just 10 more min" until lo and behold it was 45 min later and I was ushered in the room to wait for him.
I was a charged about 5x more for my procedure than I had been charged at other doctors. Definitely wish I had asked ahead of time about how much it would cost.
Most pleasant and educational doctor's visit! Great bedside manner, great doctor!
I went in for a flu shot, and wasn't even sure if Dr Savage was in to answer some other questions I had. The whole experience was fine, but there was an icy vibe in the office. This is definitely an office for tourists who are sick, and I would not recommend as a normal doctors visit. Also they had a ton of paperwork for me to fill out even though I was just getting a shot and nothing else. Over all a very "meh" experience. Would go back for a flu shot but nothing more.
Conflicted, the doctor is very nice, insightful, and helpful. He provides good advice and doesn't make you take and do take unnecessary meds or do unnecessary procedures, so he has my trust there. However, my wait time was over an hour and judging by the other reviews, it seems to be a systemic issue.
Knowledgeable and works hard to relate to patients.
Incredibly attentive, helpful beyond measure As to my concerns and how best to take immediate steps to ensure a long healthy Life starting today, based upon empirical as well as scientifically documented data,,,, ,,,his enthusiasm for the the promotion of my health and well being Maybe eclipsing even my own!'
Awesome guy, great doctor. Funny.
He was great, but honestly I waited about an hour before getting a room and then another 10-15 in the room. He was smart, funny, knowledgeable, and kind but the wait was obnoxious.
Good guy, pleasant to talk to and well informed. The extreme wait time was unacceptable.
Very unprofessional. Office called 45 minutes before appointment to say that doctor was going to be one hour late to the appointment. Doctor had terrible bedside manner. Office staff was rude and not efficient at communicating with doctor or patient. Worst of all, the bathroom was outside of the office down the hall and up the stairs. In order to submit a urine sample, one must carry their sample through the halls outside of the office and through the lobby without any privacy.
Super nice. Smart. Polite. I have found my doctor. Finally.
the doctor was great and down to earth
