I believe the psychiatrist has the responsibility to treat the entire patient. Therefore, I offer both psychotherapy and medications. I went to medical school determined to devote myself to helping patients with both the issues in their lives and disorders of the brain.
Twenty years ago, psychiatrists cared deeply about the whole patient and it ultimately devolved into a division of the patient's treatment and their forte interests. Now the psychologist does the therapy and the psychiatrist does the medications. For the past twenty years, I have tried to preserve the best traditions of psychiatry combined with current psychopharmacological advances. If you are interested in individual therapy or couples therapy with a focus on your internal life, rather than workbooks and exercises, I am the doctor for you.
As a psychopharmacologist, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression. As a psychotherapist, I conceptualize the individual's concerns in the context of adult development, psychoanalytic concepts, and life coaching. We explore the influences of childhood experiences and relationships on current and future issues. I treat the whole range of adult experience.
In couples therapy, the focus is on the understanding of a dynamic that develops in relationships, and how it distorts both perceptions and communication.
I am a board certified psychiatrist, and Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I accept insurance and provide a billing service as a courtesy to my patients. However, I am not on any insurance plans. Therefore, I am considered an out of network provider.

Dr. Friedson is an outstanding, knowledgeable, and caring professional. She was the first of five psychiatrists that I have seen to accurately diagnose my condition.
