What should a new client know about working with you?

As an autistic, non-binary, queer, poly, and kink-friendly provider, I aim to treat those like me. I work with clients who have a variety of issues and hope to bring my clinical expertise to each one. During our initial sessions, we will delve deeply into the issues at hand and collaborate to create a plan that addresses them in a way that helps you regain control of your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session lasts about 45 minutes and is designed to be comfortable and supportive for each patient. As a PMHNP, the process begins by discussing the patient's current concerns, symptoms, and personal history. During the diagnostic process, questions are asked to understand thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and how challenges may have developed over time. Psychoanalytic techniques are often used, which means exploring underlying emotions, early experiences, unconscious patterns, and how these factors influence current mental health. This may include discussing dreams, thoughts, and recurring relationship issues, to help the patient gain insight and make meaningful change. Medication management is also available during these sessions. If medications are appropriate, their benefits, side effects, and administration instructions are discussed in detail. Over time, the treatment plan is adjusted as needed, combining talk therapy methods with medication to support a patient’s progress and well-being.

Dr. Ward is very understanding about depression, ADHD and autism and has in-depth personal and professional experiences with these topics. I felt like they took me seriously and actively listened to my problems and asked me questions to get a thorough picture of everything I've been going through. They prescribed appropriate treatment regimens and followed up with me to see what was/wasn't working and adjusted medications based on that information. Very attentive and goes above and beyond the call of duty. They listened to my needs and responded with excellent care. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a new provider!
Dr. Ward is incredibly thorough and takes the time to really listen. From the start, I felt like my concerns were heard and understood, and they didn’t just give me a quick answer or rush through the visit. Instead, they thoughtfully considered different options and were willing to think outside the box to find solutions that truly fit my situation. They’re also very approachable and easy to get in touch with, which makes such a difference. I left my appointment feeling cared for, confident in the plan we discussed, and grateful to have found a doctor who is both committed and compassionate.
