“Dr Mirsky was a patient and non judgmental listener. He came to a conclusion and put me on what I think is the lowest safe dosage of medication. When the script didn't make it to the pharmacy, he was kind enough to attend my call on a weekend and see the script through. Definitely going back ”

Getting to know Dr. Jeffrey Mirsky

Dr. Jeffrey Mirsky is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist practicing independently at his private practice in San Diego, California, and part-time in Northbrook, Illinois as well as holds licenses and residences in both states. Dr. Mirsky is highly regarded in the field of psychiatry and has treated professional athletes, artists, musicians, people with high pressure careers as well as the general population. I do expert consults for many psychiatrists for their patients, I served on the advisory board at mayo clinic herman house and was a preferred referral source for Mayo Clinic patients needing follow-up care in the Chicagoland area. I trained at Rush University Medical Center, where I was elected Chief Resident by faculty/peers and voted by my peers as the most protective advocate of my fellow residents. A very important aspect of treatment is having a connection and working as a team with the provider. I am very easygoing and able to quickly establish therapeutic alliances with my patients. I am deeply dedicated to my each patient because thats what t deserve . My practice uses a concierge model and doesn't have the red tape or lack of personability involved in bigger institutions. People generally feel relief by end of appointment from our therapeutic bond. I am highly skilled in treating a variety of psychiatric conditions (outside of primary addiction) using complex psychopharmacology. I stay current with cutting-edge research and utilize medications artistically for each individual. Psychotherapy is integrate within the sessions and is critical in patient outcomes. Some patients receive weekly psychotherapy with or without medications, depending on their needs and our collaborative approach to finding solutions. In addition, I incorporate health and wellness aspects into treatment. We do labwork sometimes gene testing and incorporate alternative medicine along with behavioral lifestyle habits. I use weight loss agents for those that need it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

It will be easy to engage with me in a strong therapeutic alliance to best optimize every individual's experience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Initial appointments are 60 minutes and include building a connection and getting an understanding of each patient. Initial sessions are for evaluation, treatment and psychotherapeutic modalities. The initial appointment is not intimidating; we work together to find a solution that fits your needs. I do both advanced psychopharmacology and psychotherapy; but tailor treatment based on patients needs.

I thought Dr. Mirsky was a great listener and made me feel calm even though I came into the appointment with a whole list of things I wanted to make sure I told him. He took extra time to do my intake so that I could get everything out. I have felt ignored/not listened to by a lot of providers in the past, and I was nervous that this would be the same. However, it was incredibly refreshing and I came away feeling better than I have about an actual plan for my mental health than I have in years. He is a smart guy and explained symptoms in a way I have never thought about before. I really hope that the pharmacology plan helps, but I honestly believe that if the first medicine I am trying does not work as intended, I will have a great provider in my corner to help me work through challenges until I find something that does work.

I can’t say enough positive things about Dr. Mirsky. I came to him after a year long battle with anxiety and depression that came to a head a few weeks ago. Right off the bat we jumped in to all my history (health, family, et Z). Dr. Mirsky was so thorough and such a compassionate listener. By the end of our call (which went way over an hour by the way) Dr. Mirsky gave me more hope and optimism than I’ve felt in a very long time. He created a go forward plan for me, and thoroughly explained everything. He is probably the most educated doctor I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. His knowledge of pharmaceuticals is unmatched, as well as his understanding of the mind and body. He provided me with his personal phone number, as well as thorough email instructions and lab work. If you’re searching for help and are struggling to find support, I urge you to reach out to Dr. Mirsky. I have a follow up with him in 2 weeks. Thank you Dr. Mirsky!!

Great listener. Practical and understanding of the great hurdles the system has created for many people with ADD/ADHD. Knows how to pace the topics during discussions well and is ultimately very helpful. Would recommend.

Dr. Mirsky is wonderful. He took the time to ask me pertinent questions, giving him the chance to really get to know me and understand where I was coming from. He really listened to everything I had to say and prescribed the proper medications accordingly. I plan to continue to see him for as long as I need to.

The most intelligent, thorough and experienced psychiatrist I have ever received treatment from (and I’ve seen several, both on east coast and west coast!) not only is Dr. Mirsky well versed and up to date with pharmacology, he is an exceptional listener, engages in conversation and has such a calm and comfortable demeanor about him. Furthermore, my pharmacist really appreciated the details he provided with the prescriptions and told me she’s never worked with such a thorough and intelligent doctor. Last but not least, the front desk staff folks are lovely and extremely easy to get I touch with. I highly advise reaching out to Dr.Mirsky before anyone else. His initial patient intake session may seem pricey, but that’s because he is the BEST and doesn’t treat his patients like just another person in line for a burger at a McDonalds ha.

When I met with Dr. Jeff, I was pretty ragged from a 7-day panic attack. Dr. Jeff was exactly whom I needed to see. He was so warm, empathetic, and understanding. He made me comfortable right away. He asked many questions about my attack as well as my background. He was listening and thinking actively as I spoke. He was very engaged, thorough and patient. And in the end made an excellent diagnosis that helped me immediately, and ever since. He is the kind of person, just knowing he is there, makes me feel better. Also, his office went way above and beyond to see me on the same day I found Dr. Jeff. I give Dr. Jeff and his staff my highest recommendation.

My previous provider was a bit too sterile and condescending. Dr. Mirsky is the antithesis. He has a welcoming personality that sets you at ease. He has a relatable sense of humor and is cleary well informed in pharmaceuticals. He gave me advice and insight regarding my medication that I had not previously known. In summary, I highly recommend Dr. Mirsky.

Awesome doctor! I was ready to give up because I was tired of seeing a different dr every time I went in to my PCP and each time I had to explain the same things over and over to new NP & Dr.s and mostly get different and often contradictory advise. I am so glad I found Dr. Mirsky . He is down to earth and easy to talk to while also knowledgeable and professional at the same time. I highly recommend him.

Highly recommend, and would refer anyone to, Dr. Mirsky for psychiatric needs! Because of Covid, my appointment was conducted online through a virtual meeting but I was still provided exceptional service. He is a great listener who pierces to the root cause of the patient's issues and administers the treatment that is proper for the patient. I find him to be very knowledgeable about medicine; he worked me with to find the ideal medication and dosage.
