Dr. John Galotto is a board certified physician in internal medicine. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1959-1967. Dr. Galotto then went on to receive his postgraduate degrees as an intern and resident in medicine from Georgetown University Hospital from 1967-1969 and a senior medical resident degree from University of Pennsylvania from 1969-1970. He's been in private practice since 1972, when he joined Drs. Ostrow, Shapiro & Galotto's group. Dr. Galotto received the Advanced Achievement in Internal Medicine Award from American Board of Internal Medicine in 1987, numerous Physician Recognition Awards from the American Medical Association, and was chosen as a Top Doctor by the Washingtonian Magazine in 2005. Aside from Dr. Galotto's full-time involvement in his private practice, he was an active physician at Suburban Hospital from 1975-2004 and currently is an emeritus staff there. He was a medical officer at the Commissioned Corps. of U.S. Public Health Service, participated in the Arthritis Control Program, and was a medical consultant to the St. Elizabeth's Federal Psychiatric Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Galotto also taught Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins and Georgetown Universities from 1972-1996.
