Dr. Rucker-Smith is a compassionate, doctoral-prepared Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in Adult Gerontology Primary Care from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University. Her post-graduate experience includes primary care, urgent care settings, and telemedicine.
Her passions include health promotion, the geriatric population, and effective communication. She believes every patient has a unique set of needs, and their care should be tailored accordingly.
With more than 10 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Rucker-Smith also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Prince George's Community College. For fun, she enjoys dancing, traveling, and spending time at the beach.

I found this clinic through Google and feel grateful for choosing Airelle Rucker-Smith, NP, DNP. The office was clean, smelled pleasant, and everyone was kind and thoughtful. I often forget appointments, but the text and email reminders helped me show up on time.
As a first-time patient, I appreciated how Airelle asked many questions to understand my health history. Since I’m not fluent in English, I sometimes didn’t fully understand, but she kindly repeated things without hesitation. Her patience helped me feel comfortable and well cared for.
She truly took the time to get to know me, and I felt her genuine concern for my health. If you’re looking for a primary care provider, I highly recommend booking an appointment with her. You won’t regret it.

After years of feeling unheard by doctors, it was important to me to find a doctor that listens to all my concerns and Dr. Rucker-Smith TRULY listens. After expressing all of my concerns, Dr. Rucker-Smith sat with me and we together made a plan of what issues to prioritize, that alone was my first indicator that she cares. After leaving my first visit, I was feeling emotional because it felt amazing to have a doctor like her that's focusing on my health. Her bedside manner is empathetic and gentle, and you won't have to wait weeks or even months to schedule an appointment. The practice is small and Dr. Rucker-Smith is very responsive- I've gotten a call back in the same day! I wish I could just keep her to myself, but I know more people are in search of exactly what I found in a medical care provider. Highly recommend First Choice Primary Care.

Dr. Rucker-Smith is wonderful. It's been years since I've experienced good bedside manner in a healthcare setting. After my first appointment, I left feeling heard and supported. Dr. Rucker-Smith is kind, knowledgeable, and is now my primary care provider.
