His approach is very aggressive and unsure if I needed half the meds / tests he prescribed.
Dr. McMahan is highly knowledgeable, personable and very good at getting to the root of my problem. Highly recommend!
The doctor was very thorough and informative. He took his time with me and just didn't rush me out the door with a prescription.
Dr. McMahan described what he thought was going on with the healing with my broken nose. But, then he suggested a more thorough x-ray to determine how the nose was healing, whether there were further problems with a deviated septum, or whether there could be any infection. After I had the x-ray Dr. McMahan called me back into his office to tell me the results: my nasal area had an infection, Dr. McMahan didn't know whether I suddenly developed allergies, but we discussed certain things I could eliminate in my home, doing my laundry, even eliminating certain scents, and telling me how to better deal with the possibility of my having allergies now. He advised that he would be prescribing some medications to eliminate the infection, then said he would like to see me in several weeks. Unfortunately, I am going out of town so cannot return until a month from now. Dr. McMahan also prescribed some blood tests to determine whether or not I had allergies. All of these remedies seemed to be very good ideas, and definitely a plan to go forward. Very satisfied with my visit today. Sharon D. Very happy w
I have been with Dr. John McMahan for many years. He is an exceptional doctor and always very sensitive to needs of his patients. Highly recommended.
Felt I was well cared for, there were good explanations about everything, and the entire staff was helpful and personabl. Nice visit.
Practical professional and thorough
The doctor was great. He was able to get to the root of my problem and provided me treatment options. However, I am not too fond of the billing policy. The office should have a flexible plan for patients so they can cover services. Not sure if I can continue to come back.
Dr. McMahan is the best! He has taken great care of me and has allowed me to schedule my post op appointments for 6:45 am before he normally sees patients.
I appreciated the time he gave me as well as a good explanation of my condition. Then he put a plan together and I will see him again in a couple weeks. I liked his interview style and the attitude of everyone working there. I left with a full confidence thatbhe knows his medicine and cares for his patients and with that I know I will get better
I showed up and they were running well over an hour behind. When I asked the girl how long it would be she became very rude and told me three people were in front of me. I said I wish someone could have called me and said they were running behind and her response was you should've called us we don't have to call you and she continued to be rude and unfriendly.
If it wouldn't be for Dr McMahan who is a fantastic doctor I would most likely find a new practice after today's visit. My appointment was set for 10 am and I wasn't seen until after 11:00. For someone who was post-surgery and made it on time i believe I should be treated with priority so I could go home and continue to recover and instead I had to wait over an hour to be seen. The staff should make an effort to call and advise the doctor was running late so I could wait comfortable at home instead of wait over an hour on the office.
Very kind. Felt like he really cared about me and it wasn't just a transaction.
I scheduled an appt. I arrived in time. Checked in and waited 20 minutes. I asked about the delay and was told 5 more minutes. Another 20 minutes went by and I asked again. The dr became available as I asked again. 40 minutes late is unacceptable. When I shared my disappointment, he simply said he waited a lot longer for HIS Dr. My nose wasn't bleeding that day so he said there was nothing he could do. I took half a day off work, paid for parking, paid a copay, and was kept waiting unapologetically. And my chronic nose bleed is still here. Bleeding started again the next day. Will absolutely never return. Incredibly frustrated with this whole experience.
He is the best ! He knows what he he doing and get to the root of the problem . I feel His approach is to treat the problem instead of suffering and going to tons of doctors .He works with insurance companies to get you the best meds . I have gone to him for years and he is "The Doc that gets it ! The office staff is one the best in the city . ;;)
He's great. Would go to him again.
He was a nice enough guy, but I think he was treating 2 other rooms with patients the same time I was getting an ear procedure done.. which didn't make me feel very welcomed or cared for.
While there was a delay in my being seen, Dr McMahan apologized, explaining that the woman being seen before me had multiple complicated medical problems, and took far longer than expected. It was OK, because Dr. McMahan is worth waiting for.
The doctor was okay, but he seemed somewhat careless and uninterested. His office also misrepresented the insurance providers that it accepts, and even confirmed to me the wrong information. When I discovered this issue after the appointment and called the office to get to the bottom of the matter, the staff were entirely unhelpful or could not be reached. They repeatedly failed to honor their promise to call back once the proper person to handle the matter was in the office. Overall, terrible service. Save yourself the trouble and just go somewhere else.
So far so good! The doctor was very informative and knowledgeable and he made me feel like we were getting closer to figuring out a solution. He took a CT scan, blood, and a visual exam when most doctors I've been to will only get through a visual exam on the first visit. Highly recommend.
Very thorough. Even though all was fine, Dr. McMahon sat me down and we talked about general ENT health and steps I could take to prevent future problems. Many doctors seem too busy these days to explain things. Highly recommend!
He's crazy. The visit was like nothing I've ever experienced. The guy is nuts! Had to convince him to let me get an allergy test done, and then he made me list out what I wanted to be tested for even though I just wanted a generic test done! I sat there googling what things I thought I may or may not be allergic to in order to develop the list. Weeks later and I still haven't heard back! DO NOT GO TO HIM!
Well organized, efficient. Doctor solved long time problem on first visit.
Excellent visit. Discouraged walking in and hopeful walking out.
Even though the wait time was long, Dr. McMahan had a great bedside manner and took the time to discuss everything in detail. He treated me like a friend not just another patient. The staff was friendly and kind as well. I enjoyed my visit.
Dr Mcmahan is a genius and his staff are extremely competent and pleasant
Good doctor, efficient. However, very long wait
Absolutely the best and most thorough visit. Dr McMahan takes time with the patient and explains everything completely.
Got right in and right out!
Terrific. Professional and to the point always appreciated!!
He is very good!!! Very knowledgeable
In the last two weeks, Dr. McMahan's office cancelled and rescheduled my appointment four times. Once the appointment finally stuck, I sat in the waiting room for almost an hour. I don't doubt Dr. McMahan's capabilities, but the office experience was strange to say the least. For 15 minutes I sat waiting to take x-rays while the technician told me an inappropriate story about a woman and Dr. McMahan felt it was necessary to share something pretty personal (and off-topic) from his childhood. Less concerning, but still odd, the office is in a somewhat converted apartment, where I received a blood test in the kitchen/break room. I am confused by the positive reviews and wanted to keep an open mind, but because they keep cancelling my appointments I really don't have a choice.
A very good visit with Dr. McMahan! A great bedside manner and had a lot of great tips to help my allergies in a daily environment. The wait was a little long, but I was a first time patient and needed to fill out some paperwork.
Very attentive to my questions which made me feel very comfortable.
The time with Dr. McMahan was better than with most other doctors. His office is less than elegant (2 residential units in a high-rise converted to a medical office). The appointment was interrupted for some lab tests. Then his staff didn't re-call me, i learned that they had filed my chart with the departed patients. But if you have the patience he does great for his patients.
The doctor was very thorough and listened to my feedback to figure what I needed.
I waited over 40 mins. for an appointment. That is my only complaint b/c once I spent time w. Dr. M. I was glad to be there and obtained a referral for additional diagnostic evaluation(s). He didn't simply 'treat a symptom' and send me on my way. He's genuinely interested in getting to the 'root' of the issue. How great is that?! Took me a while but glad I went.
Very good doctor!!! Really knows what he is doing.
My visit to Dr McMahon's office was probably the most positive experience I have ever had with a specialist...his assistant was also very helpful and very polite as well.
Great place!! He even had me see another doctor in his practice to get a second opinion on my earache.
Both the physician and clerical personnel were very efficient and nice. My only problem was that the online scheduling system says suite 302 when it is actually 303.
I was very happy to receive all the great educated information Dr. McMahan gave me, he educated me on a lot to help make my life easier and healthier. I was very impressed with all I learned.
even tho he was the person I needed to see..he was concerned about my wellbeing and sugested that I seek consoule with his partner that deals with the ear
Dr. McMahan was very thorough and I would definitely recommend to anyone. The staff as a whole was fantastic.
My visit was great and very informative!!
Horrible service. Showed up early for my appointment and 45 minutes later I was still not the next patient. No one apologized, I was just told to sit and waut
Dr. McMahan, was very down to earth and personable. I appreciate his vast knowledge regarding my treatment. I really hope this works.
The doctor was fantastic, saw me very quickly and helped me out with my ear pain.
He was not an expert in what my problem was, but he sent me to a doctor at Northwestern who was able to see me the same day. This was excellent. He did not charge me for coming to his office either. I would recommend anyone who need a ENT doctor to see Dr McMahan.
The reception staff is super slow and unfriendly. I came in on a PPO, was seen by Dr. McMahan, and then told that he wasn't an expert on ear conditions and that I would have to come back to see Dr Clemis. So two visits, a ton of out of pocket cost, and waiting times of nearly an hour each time, I decided I'd put my PPO to work and find another doctor.
Very Kind and Professional. Highly recommend!
Very thorough and explains everything in detail.
He's a leach just trying to make money off customers! King of 5 min consultations. Useless doctor. Never again
Great experience !!!
He told me the surgery will "help with my sleep apnea and snoring". I had to tell him, "well I don't have sleep apnea or snoring...so....?...". And he should have known that by looking in my file. It just made me feel like he was saying any random thing and wasn't specific of my needs. I felt unsure and as if he didn't know what he was talking about and was basically making things up. It made me veryyyy hesitant.
He is great! Good at explaining things and makes you feel comfortable the entire time.
Dr. McMahan and his front office staff are very personable. As long as you do your paperwork ahead of time, they'll get you in and out in no time.
Great doctor, really nice person. I immediately felt comfortable and appreciate his efforts to put me at ease. Although my issue was not his specialty, he asked me questions so he could figure out who was best for me to see. Then he and his staff helped me to get in contact with that doctor and set up an appointment. That was just an added plus: the office staff was incredibly friendly and professional. Overall an excellent experience!
Dr. McMahan was wonderful. He explained everything, gave me options and made sure I was confortae before I left his office. Great bedside manner, kind man, fabulous office staff. Best of the best (and I am reay picky).
He was very helpful and nice!!!
First visit and he was great. He was able to get me appointments for consultations that are just 10 days away instead of months. Friendly office staff. I will continue as his patient.
Very professional and punctual, prescribed the right exams and solved my issue in one visit.
I was well taken care of and was given the exact tests I needed for accurate results regarding my allergies/infection. The front desk staff are very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend Dr. McMahan. He gave me a lot of important tips and recommendations.
He seems genuinely interested in figuring out what is wrong wtih a patient. He was full of information to give me about my various issues, but it was too much at times. I was there on my lunch hour, so it was a bit aggravating that he was telling me so many personal anecdotes while I knew that I had to leave and he had several other patients waiting.
My visit was brief and he referred me to another specialist that could better treat me. He was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. If I have a specific ENT problem, I would definitely go back to see him.
Very friendly, informative and knowledgeable.
The office runs very efficiently and there was minimal wait time. Although Dr. McMahan had many patients in at once I didn't ever feel like I was waiting for him. Easy to talk to.
Dr. McMahan professionalism is up to standard. Staff are helpful except one receptionist (can't remember her name); she doesn't know how to go extra miles to facilitate customer.
He performed sinus surgery on me. My sinuses have never felt better. The experience of dealing with his office has been wonderful. They've always been quick to get me in when I need an appointment.
Instead of rolling around town to get a CT scan, allergy testing and an ENT consult at three places, their office DOES IT ALL! I was there for about two hours, but walked out with a treatment plan and Dr. McMahan really knows what he's doing. I have been treated with antibiotics by other physicians for three years when I never really had a sinus infection. Highly recommended!
I feel he did a more thorough and in depth diagnosis that I've had from an allergist or anyone I've previously visited.
The best ENT doctor in Chicago. See Dr, Mac!
He was very informative and direct. Even though the news might be bad he really came to a conclusion very quick without hesitation. I'm glad I didn't cancel. I'll know the results in a few days. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. Tom
He was extremely knowledgable and attentive.
He was very professional and knowledgeable. He examined me in his office and ran tests. He then recommended a doctor that specialized in my condition and arranged for me to see him right away. I really appreciated that because I am a senior citizen and that saved me from having to make another trip downtown.
He was very informative and pointed me to the correct specialist for my hearing.
HE IS AMAZING AND I AM RECOMMENDING TO ALL OF MY SINGER FRIENDS.HE TOLD ME SO MUCH THAT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT MYSELF. FOR ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT IT WAS OTHER STUFF AND HAD BEEN MISDIAGNOSED OTHER STUFF,BUT DR. MCMAHAN IS THE BEST. THANKS DOC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very impressed with the doctor, staff and facilities. Scan performed right on site, which was extremely convenient. Very personable and knowledgeable doctor.
Great doctor, Great office, Great staff. Incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and quick.
I was very pleased with this doctor and his office staff!
