About Dr. Lee Stein
Aside from providing care at Lake Shore Foot & Ankle, PC, Dr. Lee R. Stein is the chief and residency director of the podiatry surgical residency program at Weiss Memorial Hospital. He previously served as residency director at Michael Reese Hospital and has had hospital affiliations with Rush North Shore Medical Center, North Shore University, and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Dr. Stein earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He completed residencies in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital and Mercy Hospital. He recently performed a fellowship in Microsurgery and Biologics at the Chicago Foot & Ankle Deformity Correction Center and completed an International Orthopedic fellowship with the Institute for Peripheral Nerve Surgery. He has also completed various preceptorships. On multiple occasions, Dr. Stein has trained at the Microsurgical Lab at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Stein has a strong interest in Medical Missions and has traveled to the Philippines, Mexico, Egypt, and Colombia to provide surgical care to patients in need.

My appointment was confirmed for 6:00 am over the phone, email, and Zocdoc, however, no one showed up. I waited until 6:21 am and the office remained closed. I left voice messages and didn't get a call back explaining what happened and why my appointment was not canceled if not even though the staff was not going to show up.
I was expecting a call from the staff apologizing for the situation and explaining what happened, but that didn't happen. I had to call back 6 hours later to be told that the doctor had been sick for a few days, and that we could reschedule the appointment. I don't blame this on the doctor, but the staff who didn't communicate the situation

Dr. Lee Stein and his team provided an exceptional experience from start to finish! He was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable and thorough. He really took the time to understand my concerns and explain everything in a way that made me feel confident about my care.
What stood out even more was how seamless the entire process was. Before my appointment, the office reached out to help transfer my medical records from another hospital & verified my insurance in advance. This level of organization gave me peace of mind and eliminated any worries about surprise bills.
The front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and made me feel at ease the moment I walked in. There was NO WAIT TIME for me @ the HP location!! I’ve seen a few podiatrists in the area over the years and I can confidently say that Dr. Lee Stein has by far the best. I highly recommend him and his office for anyone seeking top-tier care!!!!

I would not go back. Had the worse bedside manner. Just walked in, didn’t even address me by name. Asked a few questions then walked out for about 10 minutes. I have several physicians that I see and I have never experienced this behavior before. He needs to improve his demeanor with patients.

I am a new patient. I went in because I had pain resembling plantar fasciitis which was quickly confirmed. I requested a cortisone shot, was fitted for orthotics and also recommended other options and psychical therapy. The session was all in all a positive experience.

I usually see Dr. Levine at his office which is nice but needed to be seen sooner and Weiss Hospital was my only choice. It is not a pleasant place—I recommend you get seen at his office, not sure they should make the hospital available on ZocDoc. It didn’t feel clean, I was asked to walk on a gross floor barefoot multiple times and the place is a ghost town.

My appointment with Dr. Stein was exceptional! He listened to my concerns and took the time to thoroughly examine my foot issue. He provided his recommendation of how to proceed with my treatment along with other courses of treatment. Dr. Stein has followed up with my treatment plan and certainly cares about my foot issue.

Lee Stein is very good and I have seen him before. I was seen by his resident today who was extremely capable and Lee gave me a wave instead. All okay. The office staff handled little hurdles with grace. All good and referrals made for me on concerns.

A resident shaved the corn and callous that we’re causing me pain. That took 3 minutes tops the Dr stuck his head in room resident told him what she was doing and he said hello to me and told resident to make sure I have X-rays. I asked why X-rays her answer was want to be sure nothing else is going on. She never has me stand to see how I stand or exam any other part of right foot where the pain was. Never looked at left foot at all. Very vague not informative appt. I just went on Medicare and think the X-rays and asked me to book an appt in 3 months was to get Medicare payment. I won’t return to
this doctor. Poor poor poor all the way around.

Appointment was great. Was dealing with a callous on my foot that I thought may be a wart since I had had one there previously. Seen very quickly, assistant shaved back some dead skin, doc looked at foot and confirmed the wart had been taken care of by my previous doc. Told me to keep the callous trimmed down and I should be good. Excellent visit. Was in and out quickly and easily.
The issues came a few months later when I received a very significant bill for a cryo wart removal in the mail. I called the office and waited two weeks for a call back from Grace, who only apparently works two days a week. I told her my situation and she told me she would talk to the doctor. She got back to me and said the doctor said they removed the wart. I offered to come back in for the doctor to look again so he would know he didn’t remove it. I received no response to that.
Last spoke to Grace on April 10 who told me she would talk to Dr. Stein and call me back. Here on May 17, I received an automated call along with an email for me to handle my outstanding invoice. They have stopped any form of communication other than the automated calls and emails.
Horrific customer service and dishonesty. I have no choice but to comptly, as it is my word against theirs, but I highly recommend steering clear of this doctor and this practice. This was straight up theft.

Excellent doctor and great guy. I had a planter tear that was extremely painful. Through careful management and repeat visits, Dr. Stein guided me to healing it without surgery. Would definitely recommend!

All of my visits with Dr. Stein have been wonderful. He truly knows what he's doing and cares for your health. My only issue is that his front desk staff informed me that my insurance was covering all of my bills. However, they failed to inform me that they take my insurance, but do not "participate" with my insurance so I have to pay out of pocket for all of the services.

The entire staff was polite and courteous. Wait time was negligible. Dr. Stein patiently listened to my comments and complaints of pain in order to discern the problem. After checking the situation, we discussed the possibilities and the best course forward for my treatment. No attitude received, questions were answered fully and respectfully. Traits that are hard to come by in the medical profession these days. Thank you Doctor Stein.

My only complaint was the wait time- I scheduled an early appointment thinking it would help to be seen early, but I had to wait for about 20 minutes before being seen, which impacted my own work day.
Overall, Dr. Stein seemed pleasant and knowledgable- I would most likely recommend to others.
