Getting to know Dr. John Wilson

Please note that I am out-of-network, meaning I do not accept insurance and require payment prior to services. After you book an appointment with Zocdoc, please expect a call from our office to discuss the practice before confirming your appointment. I am a board-certified psychiatrist in both adult and child psychiatry. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine, completed my residency in psychiatry at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, and pursued a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Louisiana State University. I provide evidence-based psychopharmacology, complemented by psychotherapy, in a private and supportive environment. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, focusing on holistic well-being that goes beyond immediate symptoms to explore deeper psychological concerns. My friendly, personable approach fosters genuine rapport, ensuring more accurate diagnoses and comprehensive treatment plans.

What should a new client know about working with you?

After booking an appointment through Zocdoc, either my assistant or I will contact you to discuss my practice and confirm your appointment. You can expect a call within 24 business hours.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to work collaboratively with patients to gain a thorough understanding of their history before making any treatment decisions. During the initial evaluation, we will focus on exploring the challenges you're currently facing, your past experiences, and your hopes for the future. This may include gathering insights from other members of your care team, such as physicians, previous psychiatrists, or therapists, to ensure a well-rounded perspective. I believe that a comprehensive approach leads to the best outcomes, and I value working with individuals who are open to exploring all options aimed at enhancing their overall well-being.

Dr. Wilson has given us hope that my son can get himself feeling back to normal. He was thorough and took time to explain his thinking to us. My son really liked his demeanor and the fact that he gave him tools in addition to the medication he is prescribing.

I really appreciate the time that he spent with me. At first, I was apprehensive about paying but it was totally worth it. This is not your average "get in & get out" doctor appointment. I would recommend to anyone looking for someone that is really going to take the time to know the patient.

Through his questioning, Dr. Wilson was able to pick up on symptoms that I did not even realize existed. Thanks to Dr. Wilson, I know I will finally get the help that I need.
