Orthopaedic surgeon Jonathan D. Botts, MD, has joined the practice of the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute. A specialist in advanced arthroscopic treatment for shoulders, knees, elbows, and hips, comprehensive shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery, and minimally invasive procedures, Dr. Botts has received sub-specialty training in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Botts is a graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. He earned his Medical Degree and completed a General Surgery Internship and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Stony Brook Universtiy Medical Center on Long Island, NY.
Following residency, Dr. Botts completed a one-year Sports Medicine fellowship at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. While at Kerlan-Jobe, Dr. Botts served on the sports medicine staff for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Anaheim Ducks.
Having passed Part I of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), Dr. Botts is Board Eligible for Part II. Dr. Botts is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and California Orthopaedic Association (COA).

I went to see Dr. Botts for a broken finger. The staff at reception and X-ray room were friendly and did a great job. Not a lot of wait time.
Dr. Botts seemed in a hurry. He didn’t actually look at my hand at all, relying only on the X-rays to diagnose. At first glance, he said he didn’t see a break. When I mentioned that the urgent care I visited saw a break on their X-rays, he looked again and said, “oh I see it.”
His bedside manner was professional but a bit abrupt and perfunctory. When I said I had to cut off my wedding band because of the swelling he said, “good.” I know he meant it was a good idea to do it for my finger, but he didn’t really show any feeling. That’s not a big deal, I just happen to prefer doctors with good bedside manner.

My son injured his finger playing baseball yesterday evening. This morning I went on my Aetna directory for covered Orthos, preferably with sports medicine within 5 miles. Dr. Botts came up. I was able to schedule via ZocDoc and he had plenty of availability. We showed up and checkin was easy. They were able to X-Ray on site and provide a diagnosis minutes later. Dr. Botts splinted my son and the office provided a Dr.'s note for school. Super easy end to end with high quality care. Thank you!

Super quick visit while I took a break from work, if you do you paperwork online they see you pretty quick and there were about eight people in the wait room when I arrived. Once my history was taken, I was x-rayed a few minutes later and saw Dr. Botts a few minutes after that.

I thought it went well until I called to schedule the procedure that the doctor recommended. A completely opposite treatment plan was given. I became extremely distrustful of the office's competency and decided not to return.

The whole staff was wonderful! I had an appointment late in the day as a new patient so the office was empty at the time. I'm not sure if that accounts for all the friendly help I received but hey I'll take it! Dr. Botts was receptive and patient with me as I explained my situation and treated my diagnosis and next steps as a conversation rather than an order. In short, he treated me like an intelligent human being! This was the third specialist I have visited (insurance switches and one terrible doctor being the reason) so I was a bit exhausted with doctors offices but the entire experience was reinvigorating and I'm excited to move forward with Dr. Botts.

A most pleasant efficient and effective experience!!! This is medicine at its best. Got an appointment with a top notch orthopedic surgeon Dr. Botts at the time and day I wanted. I was treated as if I really mattered! Zocdoc is superlative. Without Zocdoc, I was destined to see an orthopedic surgeon only in December for an emergency trauma knee situation. The registration as a new patient was seamless as I've already pre-populated forms via ZocDoc and they didn't have me fill any more paperwork besides seeing my insurance card and ID. That, in itself, was a pleasure and made the visit very easy. The nursing staff and doctor were also very efficient once I got in a room, which involved pulling some x-rays and administering a minor procedure. So all in all very simple and easy visit.

The receptionist was very nice. I did submit my forms before hand online with Zoc Doc, but she wasn't able to pull then up right then. But she explained that to me and had mr just fill out a couple of necessary papers. It was a quick appointment (everything under an hour) with x rays and a consultation with the doctor. He wasn't super thorough, but thorough enough. Asked me a lot of questions and explained to me what could be occurring. He also had more compassion than some other doctors I've seen. I felt taken care of and listened to.

I had a wonderful experience with my visit(s) with Dr. Jonathan Botts. The office staff was very friendly and accomodating. The office itself is extremely clean and pleasant. The doctor himself is everything one could ask for in a doctor--such a great bedside manner, very knowledgeable, very skilled at what he does, and really cares about your well being.
