I grew up in Ottawa, the snowy capital city of Canada. I graduated from Merivale High school, then moved to Toronto where I graduated with my B.Sc in Genes Genetics and Biotechnology from the University of Toronto. My love for travel and adventure took me to California, where I completed my optometric education at UC Berkeley, then to New York City, where I completed a residency in Ocular Disease at SUNY College of Optometry.
I find optometry exciting because it is so versatile and it gives me the chance to interact with a variety of people. There are so many different modes of practice and each person you meet is different culturally, medically and personally. Every time you walk into an exam room there is an opportunity to teach and prescribe, as well as to learn! The constant learning makes optometry a dynamic and vibrant profession that I feel privileged to be part of.
I am a bit of a health nut and could not live without Bikram yoga, aerobics, and delicious vegan food. I absolutely love to travel and am always up for suggestions of interesting “off the beaten path” places to visit. I am excited to join the energetic team of doctors and staff that make Somerset Eye Care a wonderful place.

The staff at Somerset Eye Care made my appointment very comfortable. Very friendly and welcoming. All pretesting explained. Dr. Harewood explained all aspects of my exam and discussed my overall health aswell.
