“Very happy with the Eye Dr. and his office staff. We needed a new eye Dr. as ours had retired. The Dr. came highly recommended by others in my community and they were not wrong! Dr. Tobin Ansel was extremely thorough in his examination, explained everything in detail and patiently answered questions. His office is bright, clean, and well-equipped with up to date technology.
The office staff (technician and receptionist) were excellent. So friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The selection of frames for the eyeglasses was good, and the prices were not outrageous like they are at some other places. There is no requirement to use their frames services, but it made sense for me to keep it all in-house! There is definitely no hard sell at all.
I would not hesitate to recommend Metuchen Vision, and will definitely be making Dr. Ansel my preferred Eye Dr. for follow up visits. ”

“It was an extremely pleasant experience with the doctor Dr. Ansel and the staff in general . I was made to feel extremely comfortable and disarmed by the professional empathetical attitude of one and all . It was very obvious to me that they all know their stuff very well Dr Ansel seemed so thorough confident unassuming and pleasantly communicative which is all that a patient / client could ask for . It was also delightful to deal with the front office staff( wish I remember their names ;my apologies) who all provided with what we used to describe as customer delight in my days as a Mental Health professional , which is way above just customer satisfaction All in all a very homely even as it was a professional feel with no nonsense approach God bless them all ”

About Dr. Tobin Ansel
Dr. Tobin Ansel is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (Bachelor's), State University of New York (Master's in Vision Science), and SUNY College of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. He also completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision at the West Haven VA Medical Center.
His interest in eye care developed in high school when he was fit with overnight ortho-k contact lenses, which stopped the progression of his nearsightedness and allowed him to see clearly without glasses or contacts all day. After suffering an eye injury in college, he experienced firsthand the difference a skilled and caring doctor made in his comfort and well-being, solidifying his decision to pursue a career in optometry.
Dr. Ansel has a strong interest in myopia management and has conducted significant research in this field. He is passionate about helping his patients keep their eyes healthy and happy for life. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages-from toddlers to adults to the young at heart.
Outside of work, he loves listening to music and working on cars.
