Getting to know Dr. Karen Jaffe
Beginning therapy is a difficult decision. It means you have exhausted your own resources, trying to find your way out of a difficult place in your life. Making yourself vulnerable in a new situation, such as therapy, is a courageous step. Dr. Jaffe works with patients addressing their current problems and, if necessary, explores the possible underlying patterns that may be contributing to their current emotional struggles.
Dr. Jaffe has worked with adults and older adolescents struggling with feelings of sadness, loss, depression, anxiety, as well as problems with self-esteem and difficulties in relationships, whether familial or work-related. She treats both individuals and couples and has been practicing for over 30 years.

Dr. Karen Jaffe is a dedicated and reputable psychologist licensed in the state of Illinois. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She also holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor's degree from Boston University. Dr. Jaffe is a Psi Chi member of the National Honor Society in Psychology and was listed in Who's Who in the Midwest in 1978 and '79.
She is a founding member of the Chicago Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology, where she was active from 1980 to 1984. She served as a board member for Family Counseling Services of Glencoe from 1996 to 2000. Additionally, Dr. Jaffe has been a professor of Psychology to both graduate and undergraduate students at National-Louis University in Chicago and Kendall College in Evanston, Illinois.

Dr. Jaffe was a tremendous help to me after going through some difficult times due to losses. She helped me to help myself in dealing with and understanding how to successfully address my issues. I would highly recommend her as a bright, compassionate and understanding therapist.
