I've seen a few therapists/psychologists in my life, and one very good psychiatrist. Kathleen Schaaf is the best one I've seen. She was very professional, expressed sympathy and caring appropriately, and really understood the medications. I was able to get through the get-to-know-you and medical history pretty quickly as a result, while not skipping anything important. I know what she thinks is a good plan moving forward. I'm comfortable with her ability to change the plan as appropriate. I was impressed with her knowledge of DNA tests to assist with the selection of the new medication.

Kathy has culturally divers experience working with people to address their health/mental health needs. After many years working in international healthcare, Kathy returned to the U.S. and helped develop and coordinate an award-winning program for providing healthcare to those in Atlanta experiencing homelessness. Through a collaborative, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach, Kathy works with people from ages 6-65 to find a path to wellness and becoming their best self.
Kathy and her family enjoy international travel, hiking, and gathering to play board games. Kathy enjoys quilting, playing with her dogs, and getting together with friends.

There was some kind of miscommunication or issue with scheduling. I scheduled the appointment via zocdoc as a virtual session but I was called and told it would be in person. When I arrived at the office for the appointment, the provider was not there and the receptionist could not find a record of the call made to me from the office. We ironed it out and the provider came in about 15 minutes later, but whatever the glitch is should be taken care of. Other than that, she is awesome. I'm looking forward to cultivating a relationship.
