Dr. Kelsea Skidmore grew up in Greenville, TX. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Razorback swim team. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a Master’s degree in Vision Science, and graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. Dr. Skidmore was a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society, and a member of the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, as well as a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society.
Dr. Skidmore is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. She is trained in the medical management of a variety of ocular conditions including conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye disease, macular degeneration, and corneal disease. In addition to providing patient care at Family Vision Solutions, she also conducts clinical research studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Skidmore offers comprehensive vision and medical eye exams for patients 6 months and older. She specializes in medically necessary contact lenses and challenging cases including keratoconus, post-LASIK complications, and irregular corneas. She is certified in corneal reshaping technology (CRT) as a non-surgical alternative to LASIK. New research is showing exciting support for CRT in slowing the progression of myopia (nearsightedness).

I was nearly 10 minutes late (yikes- my bad) but the office was calm and THERE WERE WARM COOKIES (+++++)
Dr. Skidmore was super sweet and cool and explained stuff in ways I could understand it (this was my first optician appt ever) and overall was really nice. The staff was not pushy when I looked at their glasses and decided to look other places.
They also have this super dope machine that they use instead of dilating your eyes with drops. For a second I could see inside my eye (from the inside of my eye). It was really freakin cool.

Dr. Skidmore and the staff at family Vision Solutions are very proficient, helpful and courteous. They answered all of my insurance questions and helped me to determine what the best options were for my eyes. The coffee and cookies sealed the deal. I will return next year.

Great experience! My vision problems are quite complicated since cornea transplant surgery. I could not be more pleased with this office and the care I received from Dr. Skidmore. This is what all eye doctors offices should be like, but sadly are not. Thank you so much!

Family Vision Solutions was recommended by a friend when I moved to Huston. Dr. Skidmore is amazing! She's knowledgeable an patient with new contact lens wearers. The staff was professional and very welcoming as well. There were no surprises and they had fresh cookies! Highly recommended!

Dr. Skidmore was extremely personable. She made me feel comfortable and confident in her abilities right away. Overall the entire visit from start to finish, was one to leave a lasting impression! (Not to mention the cookies!!) I would highly recommend Dr. Skidmore to any of my family and friends!

I am new to Huston so this was my first time at FVS. When I walked in I was instantly greeted by smiling faces. I saw Dr. Skidmore, who was very knowledgeable & patient with answering my questions. She made me feel comfortable and made sure I understood everything before we left the room. She even helped me find some nice glasses and sunglasses. Overall, I was very impressed by the service at FVS and I will definitely be back!
