Vitreo-Retinal Surgery is a relatively new subspecialty in Ophthalmology; it grew out of the need to improve and expand treatments for diseases of the retina. The retina is a highly complex organ that constitutes the inner layer of the eye. Dr. Sparks has successfully treated and helped restore vision in thousands of patients with a host of retinal disorders including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, macular edema, and retinal detachments. As a Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon, Dr. Sparks is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of potentially blinding diseases of the retina and inner eye.
