Dr. Kevin Kirby has been practicing podiatry in Sacramento since 1985. He grew up in Sacramento, went to C.K. McClatchy High School, and completed his undergraduate degree at UC Davis. Dr. Kirby went on to graduate from the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in 1983 and completed his first-year surgical residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He spent his second post-graduate year doing the Fellowship in Podiatric Biomechanics at CCPM, where he also earned his M.S. degree. He has distinguished himself as one of the leading podiatric authorities in the world in foot and lower extremity biomechanics, foot orthotic therapy, and sports medicine. He has written five books that are being used by podiatrists and other health professionals in many different countries, with all five of his books also having been translated into Spanish language editions. He has authored or co-authored six book chapters and 29 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and he frequently lectures internationally as an invited and keynote speaker at scientific seminars. He has also lectured extensively throughout the United States. Additionally, Dr. Kirby has invented and developed foot orthotic techniques that are used worldwide in foot orthotic therapy, and he has created new theories and clinical tests in foot and lower extremity biomechanics that are now being taught in podiatric medical schools around the world. Dr. Kirby holds the title of Adjunct Associate Professor in Biomechanics at the California School of Podiatric Medicine and is also a member of the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association and a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery, Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, and Journal of Foot and Ankle Research.
