Dr. Koji Park is an attending surgeon in the Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West Hospitals. He is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr. Park is a board certified general surgeon and fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. He was born in Matsuyama, Japan, and raised in New York. He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Psychology.
Dr. Park obtained his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY and completed his postgraduate residency training in general surgery here at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Medical Center. He went on to complete a clinical fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Yale University before returning to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West.
Dr. Koji Park has published widely in the fields of minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. His research accomplishments earned him a nomination for the John Halverson Young Investigator Award by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. During his last year of residency, he received the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons’ Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Achievement Award, as well as the Department of Surgery’s Chief Resident of the Year Award.
His clinical areas of interest include bariatric surgery; surgery for reflux, achalasia, and gastroparesis; complex hernia surgery; general surgery; trauma surgery.

I made an appointment seeking a revision of my previous gastric sleeve surgery and I have to say, I already like Dr. Park more than my other surgeon. We had a very real conversation about my bad habits and what I need to change. He was firm on what I needed to do but in the nicest and most professional way possible.He seems like he really cares about his patients.

Dr. Park is the best. I had my bariatric surgery 3 weeks ago and could bot have been in ANY better hands. He is skillset is thorough. His manner is parallel to no other doctor I have experienced prior. I have total confidence in him. Again, he is the best!

Dr. Park is very friendly and professional. During pre-op appointment, he explained the procedure thoroughly, listened and responded to my concerns, and answered all my questions. He used diagrams which helped me to understand things better. Post-op appointment was brief, to the point, and funny (he's got a great sense of humor). Dr. Park is a doctor I would recommend to all.
