Born and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Puthenpurakal earned her undergraduate degree in Health Science from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. She went on to receive her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, then completed her surgical residency at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, where she served as Chief Resident and gained extensive experience in wound care, limb preservation, forefoot and rearfoot surgery, and diabetic foot management.
Dr. Puthenpurakal is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and board qualified in foot surgery. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and has completed the Visual Medicine Guided Injections course, which introduced her to soft tissue and musculoskeletal ultrasound techniques. She also successfully completed all parts of the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners and was recognized with the Scholl Merit Scholar Award for academic excellence. She has presented research on wound healing, gas gangrene, and PRP therapy at national podiatry conferences and remains active in the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the American Association for Women Podiatrists.
In practice since 2016, she provides care in both clinical and assisted living settings, combining a gentle approach with clinical precision. Her goal is always to support her patients' comfort, independence, and confidence.
