Dr. Laura Downing is a native of College Station, Texas and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in 2004. She moved to Houston to attend medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and stayed in Houston for her obstetrics/gynecology residency training at the UT Health Science Center. She practiced in Houston for 4 years at The Woman's Hospital of Texas before moving to Austin in 2016- lured by her friend from residency, and now partner, Dr. Mileur. She and her husband love living in Austin! They enjoy live music and the outdoors. In October 2018 they welcomed their first daughter into their lives and she is the apple of their eyes!

I just had my first appointment with Dr Downing, and I would highly recommend her. She was vibrant, easy to talk to, and made me feel at ease throughout the entire appointment, while still addressing all of my concerns and questions in a thoughtful and patient manner. I've just moved cities and have been nervous to find all new doctors, I look for doctors who I think have my best interest in mind, not just a medical chart to read through, and I felt that even after just one visit with Dr Downing. I'm looking forward to my continued healthcare under her supervision.

Dr. Downing is Amazing! She is super thorough! Gives you her complete attention, and cares about you! I was taken back early, even though she had 2 late patients, I did not have to wait in the room! I still felt like I was treated with respect and care and she did not act rushed. 5 star visit!

Highly recommend Dr. Downing! She was very informative and spent a lot of time thoroughly explaining everything to me and answering every question I had. She made sure to walk me through each step of my appointment and always made sure I was comfortable. I was very nervous in the beginning, but after talking with her I felt so much more at ease. What can I possibly say? She was the most incredible health professional I’ve ever encountered! She must have easily spent a full 45 minutes in my room talking over things with me. Dr. Downing is an active listener and creative problem solver, and was so thorough in her explanations! She also offered solutions that I had never considered and had never been offered by another doctor, but that totally make sense! I haven’t felt so excited about a doctor in my whole life!! Thank you Dr. Downing!!!

Dr Downing has an excellent bedside manner and is very friendly. The receptionist (Andrea) was also very friendly. I was seen very quickly (just after filling out the paperwork.) The doctor and I had a short talk and then we did the procedure (an endometrial biopsy.) The biopsy was painful, but I expected this and this is to blame on my thickened uterus. Dr Downing completed the biopsy as quickly and efficiently as possible, in my opinion. The entire appointment, including paperwork, a urine test, talking with the doctor, and the exit process took almost exactly one hour. All in all, I had a very positive experience (other than the pain) and I would definitely recommend Dr Downing from this experience.
