Dr. Leiv M. Takle Jr. was born and raised in Georgia and grew up on his family's farm (LeiKri Farms) in Concord, GA. He currently lives in Griffin, GA with his wife Lindsey and three children, Macie, Bella and Liam. Dr. Takle Jr. specializes in comprehensive eye care, no injection, no stitch cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, treatment of macular degeneration, dry eyes and diabetic retinal disease. Dr. Takle Jr. is fellowship trained in oculoplastic, orbital, and cosmetic surgery and specializes in blepharoplasty, eyelid and facial skin cancer reconstruction after Mohs Micrographic Surgery as well as nasolacrimal duct surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He was recently appointed to the council of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the Medical Association of Georgia Dr. Takle Jr. did his internship and ophthalmology residency training at the well known Emory Eye Center. He is trained in the latest technology including no injection, no stitch, cataract surgery and the latest in oculoplastic techniques including reconstruction of eyelids after skin cancer removal, blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, brow lifts, and Botox and fillers. Dr. Takle still believes that every patient be treated as an individual and always means explaining all the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the patient so that they feel fully informed about their procedures. "The surgery has become technically easier to do and we are able to do more surgeries in a smaller time frame, however, some surgeons have lost that ability to have a doctor/patient relationship that is so very important." Dr. Takle also states, "I think that is why my father has been in eyecare business for 35 years. People want to feel like they have an eye doctor/surgeon, not just someone who operates on them and then turns them over to their "family eye doctor". The patient want to feel like they have a medical doctor that can handle all their eyecare needs."
