Dr. Butler received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Brigham Young. He then worked for a year and continued research in Health Psychology before attending Auburn University in Alabama. He earned his Doctorate degree in Clinic Psychology with an emphasis in addictive behaviors and a minor in counseling diverse populations. While at Auburn Dr. Butler worked in juvenile, inpatient, medical, and academic settings. Dr. Butler completed his residency at Utah State University where he was instrumental in reconstructing the university’s policy and treatment program related to campus alcohol violations.
Dr. Butler has had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings. He worked for a period in a community mental health clinic in rural Utah. During that time, he provided services to a variety of patients through individual, group, family, and couples counseling. Dr. Butler has been able to continue this service in settings in the Salt Lake Valley. He has extensive experience in assessment and has done psychological assessment, consultations, and forensic assessment. Dr. Butler has also specialized in behavioral health interventions within a medical setting when he worked at Hill Airforce Base. These services focused on behavioral help with concerns related to sleep, diet/weight, sexual dysfunction, and more. Dr. Butler is dedicated to helping individuals with diverse concerns, recognizing that many individuals are underserved and wanting to help in these situations. Dr. Butler has a great deal of experience treating trauma, depression, anxiety, and complex psychological concerns, and brings a wealth of knowledge in addictive behaviors.
