My philosophy in helping patients is to sit back and listen to what they say. Getting to know the patients' families and hearing about what is going on in their lives helps me make thoughtful suggestions to support their health. I truly believe in the osteopathic philosophy of treating the body as a whole. I spend time with my patients, giving them the chance to express what is on their mind and ask questions.
Why I entered medicine
In school, I always enjoyed and excelled in health sciences. When my neighbor, who was like a grandmother to me, became ill, I began seriously considering a career in medicine. At that time, my family physician became a role model and mentor. After shadowing him, I realized I enjoyed talking to patients, developing diagnoses, and being able to help them. I have seen an osteopathic family physician my entire life and didn't know the difference between a D.O. and an M.D. until I got older. I chose the osteopathic profession because it fits my personality and beliefs. I enjoy being able to apply osteopathic manipulation as an additional treatment option.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Muhlenberg College and my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed my internship and residency in Family Practice at St. Luke's Hospital.
Personal interests
Family values are very important to me. In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my children, being outdoors, and spending time with extended family.
