About Dr. David O'Gurek

Health and healing are a journey that must be both person-centered and trauma-informed, encompassing both individual and community perspectives. I care for patients of all ages through office-based procedures and addiction care. I enjoy helping diverse populations by delivering high-quality, equitable care that advances individual and community health. My roots in the coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania instilled in me the value of giving back and service. I entered medicine to use my skills as a critical bridge between the community, the health system, and public health, making an impact on individuals, their families, and communities. My career has been dedicated to patient care, community engagement, education, research, and policy, advancing health equity as well as community and population health. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's College, my Doctor of Medicine from Pennsylvania State University, and completed my Family Medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital. I have always valued networks and connections with community benefit organizations. I have built community-based programs for schools to address chronic disease burden and, through my work in addiction, to address the ongoing overdose crisis. I have been involved in organized medicine at the state and national levels, serving as president and board chair of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians and holding positions within the American Academy of Family Physicians. As a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, I frequently experience the highs and lows that come with that life.
