Meghan O'Neil, MD, PhD is a licensed and ABPN board certified psychiatrist who has been in practice for more than 10 years. She graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a PhD in Neuroscience in 2004, and with an MD in 2006. She completed her residency training in psychiatry from the University of Washington in 2010, and a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry in 2011. Dr. O'Neil is skilled in initiating medications for the first time, optimizing current medications, streamlining overly complicated regimens, or tapering off medications that are no longer needed or that aren't effective. She believes in a œless is more approach to medication and encourages non-pharmacologic interventions when appropriate. She will support the therapeutic work of your individual therapist and will closely collaborate with them. Her own therapeutic approach, which is incorporated at times into your medication management visits, is rooted in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and 12-Step Facilitation. Her main areas of focus include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and addictive disorders. In her spare time, Dr. O'Neil enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, listening to podcasts, and learning new skills (most recently juggling).
