“I originally booked an appointment through zodoc for an appt a few days out. I was contacted by the office for my initial paperwork and to confirm appt slot. Original time on zodoc not available and earliest slot was 2 weeks out. But after contacting their office again they were able to get me in a week earlier (I was running out of medication and wouldn’t make it to the 2 weeks out appt). Had a great experience with the office and therapist”

Getting to know Cynthia Miller

Hi, my name is Cyd Miller, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Oregon. My areas of expertise include ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQIA+ Topics, Life Transitions, Life Coaching, Stress Management, and Women’s Issues. With 10 years of nursing experience, I completed my psychiatric training at Frontier Nursing University. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, CIGNA, MAGELLAN HEALTH, MEDICARE, OXFORD, REGENCE BLUE SHIELD OF OREGON, UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID. My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals. I chose to be a psych NP because I cannot imagine doing anything else in my life except for helping those who are finding their way and their voice. I always wanted a career in nursing and in healthcare due to my desire and passion of wanting to help those who need it the most. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking process: Request your appointment time on Zocdoc. My office will email you an online intake form to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm an appointment time. I try my best to keep slots available each week for new clients. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

I would not recommend Cynthia/Cyd Miller. From the 1st appointment, I felt stigmatized for seeking medication & treated like a drug-abusing patient rather than someone managing a legitimate condition. She frequently interrupted & talked over me, making it hard to feel heard. I reached out for continuity of ADHD care as my medication was running out. I was told to complete paperwork and return in two weeks for a follow-up, which I did. The 2nd appointment felt like starting over - Cyd was unprepared, asked the same questions, and said the evaluation needed 2 more appointments (which she'd never disclosed). She made excuses, claiming she didn't know if I was even coming to the appointment (even though I submitted forms and had this scheduled for weeks). My question about transferring my prior NY diagnosis was also never clearly answered. This poor communication has left me nearly out of medication, disrupting consistent care for a real mental health condition.
