Dr. Amoashiy has over 30 years of experience in clinical neurology and brings outstanding professional credentials, including a very broad knowledge of general neurology and neuroimaging. He obtained his medical degree from Moldova State Medical University and a Ph.D. in Neurology from the Moscow Academy of Sciences. Dr. Amoashiy completed his residency in Neurology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In addition, he is certified in Neuroimaging. His interests include general neurology, neuroimaging, celebrovascular disorders, demyelinating diseases, migraines and headaches. He is an assistant professor in clinical neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Albert Einstein Medical College.

First time I tried to attend my appointment, I was turned away because they didn't have my referral. They actually did but thought they needed more information so I had to reschedule a week later. When I got in to see the doctor, saw him for about 4 minutes very frantically. After sending me for test (which a couple requested test by the doctor was rejected by my insurance, didn't seem like the doctor made a strong argument). When I went back to discuss my results with the doctor, I got a very quick diagnosis. After a short discussion I asked about my blood result test they ordered. Doctor asked "what blood test" (the one he requested and had the results for). Doctor seem capable but I didn't have a good experience.

The doctor was not in and the receptionist did not call to inform me. She was rude and kept cutting me off to tell me to let her finish yelling at me. The wait for a 3 min procedure was over 2 hours which is utterly ridiculous.

He was a little rushed, so he missed an important observation that I made, which added a little extra time to the appointment.

I've seen Dr. Amoashiy twice now and had a horrible experience both times. Both times I had to wait over two hours after my schedule appointment to be seen, and both times the doctor was rushed, dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. He will rush through your appointment and seem agitated if you ask him to clarify or repeat anything.
The first time he did all of those things but I thought I'd come back just to see the treatment through (he had to go over some test results with me).
But today, I went back for a simple routine test (as well as the results review) and I can tell you that I will never return. I have a deep phobia of needles and was unaware that this test included a small needle. So when it came out I started to cry and expressed this phobia to the nurse, with an apology for the inconvenience. I know it's difficult. I was trying to calm myself down, but then he entered the room and his first comment was "oh, you're so pretty when you cry." This is unprofessional and, honestly, infuriating. It did not make me feel better.
He proceeded to aggressively grab my arm and ready the needle. I started panicking and through my tears told him I needed some space and asked him to explain the test more thoroughly. He ignored my requests, did not give me space, and continued to grab my arm. I was moving into a full fledged panic attack, which he handled by grabbing my arms and pushing me back onto the bed saying "you need to relax and lie down." Obviously this didn't work. Ultimately, his aggression and disrespectful bedside manner made it completely impossible for me to calm down and I had to leave without finishing the test.
This experience was traumatic and totally unacceptable. Do not go to Dr. Amoashiy if you require and kind of speed or empathy from your doctor's visits. I will say, he seems to be good at the actual neurology part.

He is a lovely doctor. The office is professional. They DO NOT have regard for people's time. I was there twice and the wait was just under 2 hours at each visit! I arrived today at 7:55 am and left at 9:50 am late for work and not having seen the doctor. Completely unacceptable!!

He was professional but also attentive to my medical issues. I have been going to him since March or April of this year, and would highly recommend him without a doubt. On my first visit he promised he would get to the bottom of my problem so I would know what was wrong. I always remember that, and he has helped me feel so much better. I could not thank him enough.
On the down side, he is very busy with many others waiting to be seen, so you should be prepared and have your questions ready when he comes in to see you.
