Dr. Hewitt was born in Denver and raised in Greeley, Colorado. He attended college at the University of California, Irvine. While at the university, he competed on the track and field team and was named the 1992-93 UCI Scholar Athlete of the Year. During this time, Dr. Hewitt developed an interest in athletic injuries and sports medicine. He subsequently graduated AOA from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic training at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center.
Most recently, Dr. Hewitt spent a year at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles as a fellow in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. This advanced training included arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder, knee and ankle. Procedures such as anterior cruciate reconstruction in the knee and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and arthroscopic instability correction in the shoulder were emphasized. As a fellow, Dr. Hewitt had primary responsibility for the College or the Canyons Junior College and several Los Angeles area high Schools.
Dr. Hewitt bas published several original articles on subjects including ACL reconstruction graft fixation and MR imaging for labral tears of the shoulder. He is a member of the American Academy or Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Primary interests include evaluation and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee injuries as well as general Orthopedics.
Dr. Hewitt lives in Denver with his wife Victoria and their two children, Sarah and Gavin.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Hewitt and his staff, but they were very helpful and answered all my questions. He definitely spent more time with me than other orthos I've seen, which was great. I thought his front office was especially nice, because they put some extra issue into helping me with an insurance issue I was having. I like that I can email him and his assistant with questions whether than coming in and paying another co-pay.

I understand that things happen and I expect a wait when I go to the doctor but over an hour is pretty crazy. It was conveyed to me (after I asked) that there was something in the morning that made the rest of the appointments get pushed back. However, the receptionist didn't know this until 5 o'clock (my appt was at 4). Kind of ridiculous. However, when I did meet with the doctor, he was great.
