Dr. Michael Hutchinson is Senior Faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. He believes that most people with most neurological conditions can lead normal lives. He stresses a detailed approach to diagnosis and treatment, and a concerned and caring attitude.
Dr. Hutchinson received his medical degree from the highly competitive PhD-to-MD program at the University of Miami. He was Resident in Neurology at the University of Washington. During this residency he did a sabbatical as Honourary Research Fellow at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London in the firm of Professor Ian McDonald, a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Hutchinson then did a two year fellowship in Neuroimaging at UCLA.
In 1994 he came to New York as Assistant Professor of Neurology, New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hutchinson is Certified in Neurology and in Neuroimaging. He is President of the American Society of Neuroimaging. He invented Parallel MRI in 1987, which is now the standard for modern MRI scanning. He holds a PhD in Molecular Physics, and has over 60 publications.
