I am a clinical psychologist specializing in behavioral sleep medicine and cognitive behavioral treatment of sleep disorders. I help treat sleep disorders – particularly insomnia, difficulties with CPAP use, circadian rhythm disorders and pediatric sleep problems – using empirically validated, effective, non-pharmacological treatment approaches. I provide a comprehensive assessment that allows us to consider all factors which may contribute to or sustain sleep problems. These treatment approaches are often an alternative to the use of sleep medications (which many of our patients appreciate), and can also be effective in helping patients stop using sleep medications.
I’m originally from California and came to Chicago in 1993 for graduate study at Northwestern University. As a founding member of the Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine and a member of the Society’s Practice Committee, I helped found one of the first Behavioral Sleep Medicine programs in the city when I joined the practice in 2005. I am certified in behavioral sleep medicine, have written and presented in the field, and participated in community education and training initiatives. Appointments with me may be scheduled for our Chicago, Des Plaines or Orland Park offices. Treatment is typically short term, with improvement often seen in 2-3 weeks of initiating treatment. I love what I do because our practice is a great place to work, our patients are well taken care of, and our patients improve their sleep; helping them to enjoy life more fully.
